Post by: 3246251196 on April 22, 2006, 11:53:34 AM
yo guys, got my A1200 today. woah, i was surprised to see how fast WB boots up!

anyway, i want to ask a question:

i also got Theme Park AGA - now, how do you install this to the hardrive. i am looking at the main menu right now and there is no INSTALL option. do you have to do it through WB with a certain command?

thanks, 324

Yo 324 ! Welcome to the cruel world of amiga ! Usually hd install script lies in the first disk, (sometimes the last) you should check the disks for something like hd_install etc. The name is usually obvious. If there's no hd install provided, your only chance is WHDLOAD.

It will be an executable file on disk 1 most likely.  Although it may not be called .exe - the three-letter file extension is a limitation of Windows and MS-DOS - Amiga executable files can be called anything (.exe, .pr0n, .thisisanamigaexecutable or whatever) or may not have a file extension at all.  It will probably have an icon of a hard disk.

If you can't see an HD install icon then you can just install it 'by hand' - make a folder on your hard drive and drag the contents of all the disks to that folder.

The best way to install Theme park game is using the WHDLOAD installer cause the original hard disk installion system of that gane is very buggy
get it here:

www.whdload.de

hmm, this is strange:

Cannon Fodder boots up fine when booting from DF0:

however, when the hdd boots first and goes straight into WB and then i insert CF Disk1 into drive it makes the typical Amiga Disk error reading problem sound and cannot recognise it?

any idea?

It is most probably due to the Cannon Fodder disk being copy protected.  This will not be an Amiga DOS formatted disk.  So workbench will not recognise it.

You will find the majority of Amiga game floppies behave like this.

A programme like WHDLoad should allow you to install this game to your hard disk too.

2 - if i wanted to fit a CD-DRIVE right now to the Amiga could i? (so long as i had a 2 headed IDE cable. ?

No guide needed, it is a simple concept.  There is a single command file called WHDLoad that goes to the c: directory.  Then you download install packages from whdload.de and just run the installer and have the original disk handy to insert when requested.  No cracked/pirate copies will not work.

After it is installed you have a game that is HD installed.  You then use Tooltypes to configure the game for things like PAL/NTSC/CPU Caches/NoFast/Quit key assignment.

is that:

No, cracked/pirate copies will not work

OR

No cracked/pirate copies will not work

?

i tend to use copies of my original games because i back them up and use those backed up disks.

Cracked games will not work.  So if you backed up with a paremeter type copier that "cracks" the game technically that will not work.  If you backup with a Synchro/Super Ami card type hardware copier that will work.  The installer is expecting the original copy protected game.

If you want to download many WHDLoad games go to English Amiga Board and look at their FAQ for a link.  ;)

tjLazer,

why you said that all whdload installer works only on originals games?

are you a newbie?

only a few whdload installers requires original games
most of them works on cracked games as well

I have installed lot of cracked games using whdload installers

in the case of theme park aga installer works also on any cracked copy if the game

bye,
