Well, my accelerator arrived, a blizzard 1230/50, and it works just fine. OS3.9 is now installed, and I have amigaexplorer working for serial connectivity to my PC.
I also have an NE2000-compatible pcmcia card (something-Gold II) that the cardmanager app picks up just fine as an i/o device.
I have the demo version of amiTCP downloaded and installed, but it didn't have the .device that I was looking for (but I might have been looking for the wrong ones - I'm new to amiga networking). I have downloaded cnetdevice from aminet, but I think I'm putting the .device in the wrong place as the installation doesn't give it as an option (it gives me ??065, hydra, and a few others).
The /db/interfaces files doesn't seem to exist, where I should be able to edit it and point to the correct driver file.
I suppose the short question is, how can I set up my A1200 with an NE2000 pcmcia card to get on the lan?
Thanks,
Cathal.

That's for AmiTCP/IP v3.0b2, but it should give some hints how to get things going.

Cheers.
I'll give it a go as soon as I get back to the house after work.
:)

But if you have OS3.9 whay are you messing about with an AmiTCP demo when you have Genesis - which is surely a lot easier to set up?

Hi,
I found the following very useful when setting up my network between a PC, an A1 and my classic A1200 with a Blizppc card etc http://samba.amigaworld.net/. I think I have the same PCMCIA card as you its a Grey cell systems ethernet Gold II PCMCIA card I use it with the cnet device http://www.g-mb.de/cnet/index_e.html
It all works very nicely

because the wizard fails to start with a 'Cannot load genesis.library version 3' from where I copied the cd over to. I've copied it from the genesis/genesis/libs/ directory over to the libs: directory, and it still won't open the wizard :(
Or am I missing something blindingly obvious about installing Genesis? It wasn't installed when I did the original OS3.9 install.

@dunx2005
Yep, same card. Thanks for the link, it'll be useful when I get a tcp stack onboard :)
I have tried the gendemo104.lha from aminet and that fails to run too.

The genesis.library should be in Amitcp:libs directory
have you got an assign to AMITCP ie "Assign AmiTCP DH1:Genesis/Amitcp" in user or startup sequence?
The cnet.device goes in Devs: in my install its in DEVS:Networks it doesn`t really matter where it is as you select it in Genesis prefs when you set it up.

Genius. Opens and works fine. I'm happy now.

True, I had it there, and it was easy to choose.
The help is much appreciated :)
Thanks!

Hi Cathalferr,
If you restart the OS3.9 installer there is an option to install the internet software (Aweb, genesis, etc).
