"An explosion of new Amiga products"

Damn, so that's why we never got to see the products, huh?  I seem to have found a minor flaw in their business plan.

Interesting timing. I think Wayne just started a thread about how he's thinking of selling his. :-D

@Matt_H

No coincidence really, I was talking to Wayne and the subject came up which made think think to find my copy to sell. Unfortunately the reason the subject came up involves, let's just say, an unfortunate accident with which Wayne's copy which is no longer available..:-(

Mine listed may be the last one left on the planet..

I had been asking Red's advice on how to best list my copy since he's the e-bay king.  As a matter of fact, I've been working to empty my outside garage and house as of late via e-bay and garage sales and Red's council has proven invaluable.

Alas, I stupidly laid my copy of the press kit on the kitchen counter where I thought it was out of the way and safe.  I went into the living room and was working on ripping up the carpet for my remodelling when I heard my cats get into a ruckus (which is normal, especially since the changes to the house started).  I ran into the kitchen to find my copy edge-in to a pan I'd left soaking in the sink.

Sucks to be me I suppose, but there's too much left in my garage to fret over a single lost item.

Doh! Sorry, Wayne :-(
Hope the remodelling is at least going well.

Good luck with the auction, Red.

I can't belive people are actually willing to pay for that... 8-)

Jose,

Why not?  It's a documented piece of Amiga history..  I'd have sold mine were it not for those darned cats.

@Wayne

Well, cause it's just complete vapour and vague. At least most designs and specs from Commodore that didn't make it, had plenty work dedicated to it. AAA even had a prototype and hombre had many hardware details worked on.
But hey I don't wanna ruin Red's auction here, it IS a piece of Amiga history.

@Jose

It's all good:-) I agree a piece of hardware would be preferable, but really the only think Amiga Inc was selling in 1999 *was* vapour and vague promises.

Now someone can own a piece of that vapour! :rtfm:

LOL, sorry.. I am getting a laugh out of it all.. :lol:

@redrumloa:

LOL, that is brilliant!

AInc were rather optimistic at the time. :-)

I'm not surprised they didn't succeed after spelling suceed and distributing it in a press pack.

The language sounds a bit Fleecyesque........

Lol! Yeah, looking at it it's the thing that best describes that period, or after that till today ...

It's far too understandable and non-catch-phrasy to be Fleecyesque.  I don't think he was working with Gateway though.  As I recall, he was too busy running around stealing everyone else's ideas trying to ingratiate himself with McEwen at the time.

Wasn't there some funny incident with Barry's "wife" whining on the usenet how Barry got sacked be GateWay, and how they were out to kill the Amiga by labelling some unrelated tech as it ??

Wow!! What a memory you got there Kronos:-o  I forgot completely about that! Now that you mention it right after Fleecy was sacked I vaguely remember him running a banner on ANN of a picture of himself saying something like "I'll be back". You remember that?

I had completely forgotten about that.  See?  This is why everyone needs to own a piece of history like this.  A great reminder of the soap opera we all took part in.  :)

Just a quick update.. ~3 days into the eBay listing and it has busted 1,000 unique visitors (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8799698954)!

Best comment so far has to go to Oliver with I seem to have found a minor flaw in their business plan. :roflmao:

Also around the same time there was a certain Matt Sealey clearly not happy about the loss of Fleecy from Amiga Inc. (No I'm not being sarcastic)   :-o

How things change.

It's very sad to see a lot of names I recognise that drifted away from the scene.  When you look at it now, it's a mere pitiful shadow of itself.  :boohoo:

It's not even a shadow of a shadow of it's former self. All the divison and camp fighting brought on by various individuals named B*, one named F*, and the lies their repective companies threw out there tore the kommunity down. Greed, narcissism and ego.

BTW- to those who are interested.. 5 days left and still under $100! 8-)

-Edit-
Come to think of it, they were all name B*.

I, for one, never understood who the heck Fleecy was??? He just showed up at the party one day like some wanna-be fraternity brother.  The only thing I remember he was good at, like most useless bureaucrats, was coming up with acronyms...COLA, OAF, etc.  Yeah, OAF, that was a brilliant one ;)

-Fleecy: yes = Bill is very concerned about the dealers. Ppl have stopped buying as
they wait and we want them to understand that they should buy the SW (note: this is the partypack ie DE) because we
are working with H&P to ensure it works on the new Amiga. It isn't wasted.

:lol:

@Oliver

No, it wasn't wasted. It works on so many levels :laughing:
