I know the original A4000D can take a max of 18MB on the motherboard (2+16) but I've seen on some sites that a 4000T can take a total of 34 (2+32)? Anyone know how true this is?

nah, the mainboard is 16Mb fast only.
i tried this as i had the simms laying around, and kitted it out with 4x 8Mb simms. again, only 16Mb.
8Mb in the first, and 8Mb in the third simm slot is recognised. this is documented elsewhere too.
any more than that and you need either an accelerator card, or a DKB128, or fastlane Z3, or some kinda zorro ram card...
theoretically, 16Mb on the mainboard, 128Mb on the CPU slot, and up to 512Mb per zorro3 slot.
i guess you could have more on the CPU slot, but it would have to be patched into/from Zorro3 address space....
