Title: amiga 3000 floppy drives?

i am stumped?????i have one fb 357A chinon in my machine as
DSO i have it on a ribbon cable top (one with the twist).
i have anothere fb 354 chinon that works fine when used as DSO. I make it DS1 the second plug on the ribbon cable. a jumper on the motherboard reads DS1 and no DS1 i jumpered that to DS1. i have tried for two hours with every type of jumpering and still cannot get them to work together. they both "click" as amiga diskdrives do.
pray tell what am i doing wrong. under system info it recognies both drives as DSO and DS1. however, DS1 reads "unreadable". i click both mouse buttons and have it boot with a bootable disk and it still will not recognize DS1 as readable.
be gentle i am brain stumped.????

Are there any twists in the floppy cable? If so, both drives should be jumpered as DS0, the twists (pins 4-6 and 10-12) will take care of everything.
