Hi folks,
there's a guy selling a internal CD rom kit on Ebay which involves cutting a hole in the rear of the 1200 casing and using an external power supply for the rom sounds so so, but when I enquired about S/W to support the cd drive the seller referred to only thing needed was IDE-fix-97 on aminet, but I did a quick search and couldn't find anything like that. Any ideas or suggestions, I'm currently running A1200 with 3.1 ROMS and WB3.1 Appolo Turbo 68030/40 and 64M fast ram.
Ian.

Do a search on Aminet for idefix - its there.
A tower would be ideal, but if you're adding a CD drive to a 1200 desktop, you might want to go for an external SCSI drive which would be faster, but you'd need a scsi-squirrel pcmcia connector. Having said that, some accelerators caused the pcmcia to stop working, probably not your Apollo though.
But anyway, its not going to be an internal drive on your 1200 is it, the hole is just to pass an IDE cable through, isn't it?

Typing 'idefix' into aminet's search came up with IDEFix97 (http://main.aminet.net/package.php?package=disk/misc/IDEfix97.lha) :-D

Hi there,
no it REALLY does appear to be a internal cd drive for the 1200 as per the sellers description :-
Everything you need to get an internal CD-Rom in your A1200!
Included is:
1 used Teac cd-224e slimline cd-rom
"1 NEW slimline-ide adapter
1 Ide-splitter 2.5" (special design) +3.5"-3.5" cable.
You will also need a 4.5A PSU. Computer and harddisk is NOT included.
Installation is easy, you only have to cut a hole in the back of the top cover.
Every kit is assembled and testing before shipping."
thanks for the feedback.
