I'm using a cordless PC keyboard with my D-Box towered A1200, and it's just not the same. I want a real A1200 keyboard :-)
If I get one of those Keyrah things and connect an A1200 keyboard to it, can I plug it in to the PC keyboard interface on the back of my D-Box tower? If I do this will the keys map properly?

you can use an amiga 4000 keyboard with most keyboard adaptors most likely with the one you all ready have .if you dont like the a4k keyboard change the inner keyboard with a 1200 one not a verry hard hack

I want to put my old A1200 desktop case on my desk and use its keyboard... so I feel like I'm using a desktop machine instead of a tower :-)

so you want amiga->PC->amiga conversion?? :crazy:
I guess its possible but it might have some lag.
why don't you just use longer cord?

Keyrah Amiga (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=466) is a USB interface so you need either need Spider USB (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=193) or Subway USB (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=137) to use it with your D-Box 1200 (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=307).

@orange
I don't want a dirty great long ribbon cable trailing across the desk in in to the back of my tower :-) I thought the Keyrah would let me convert it to a USB keyboard with a nice thin cable, then plug in to the back of the tower.
@amigakit
My current keyboard has a wireless receiver which is USB. I just used a USB->PS2 converter and it works in the D-Box's keyboard interface.

@Motorollin,
But those adapters only work with mice/keyboards that were designed to work in either USB or PS2 mode.
If you really wanna use the old A1200 shell instead of getting an A4000 keyboard, there's 2 ways of doing it.
1. Put the guts of an A4000 keyboard inside an A1200 case
2. Salvage a keyboard controller from an A500 and connect it to the A1200's keyboard ribbon and add a cable from the DBox's interface to the A500 interface. There's a hack on aminet that describes it in more details.

I see, I guess that's a no go then.

Will it physically fit? And are the layouts the same?

Is the A500 keyboard cable not a ribbon then? I haven't seen the inside of an A500 for years!

No, the A500 keyboard's controller is on the keyboard PCB, so you'd only need the serial cable.
