Hello!
I have a Amiga 1240T with 32mb ram that i use for games, music and internet. I used had a disk crash and had to reinstall OS 3.9.
But when i try to play mods etc i only get mono sound. I tried with a new RCA Cable with no luck. If i just switch places of the White and Red cable i get another sound...Weird..
What to do...Bohoo....
I use Eagleplayer to play mods and Octamed to Make mods
-
I had similar problems once and found that something was shorting on the Motherboard shielding. I removed the top shield and now the sound works fine.
Another symptom was the computer would reset if I lifted up in the power cord or RCA cables.
-
My Amiga is in a Tower..
I tried to measure around to see if i found something shorting out.But no luck..

When you say it is in mono, do you mean that only one of the speakers is producing sound (i.e. only one of the two stereo channels) or that both the left and the right channels are coming out of both speakers?

what i mean is when i play a 4 channel mod..I only get 2 channels....So i guess there is some miscomunication between ahi and octamed/eagleplayer...Weird...
-
So you are expecting 2 channels in the left speaker and 2 in the right speaker, but you only get 2 of the channels from one of the speakers? Does this only affect AHI apps?

Just like that yes
This affects all but games....
Looks like there is a volume problem in the Amiga...So the output wich is silent is muted of something
-
So software which uses Paula directly (not AHI) work ok? If that's the case then the problem is AHI not the Amiga.

But Octamed doesn't use AHI does it? I maps Audio directly to paula....
So weird it shouldn't work if there is a AHI problem
-
Dunno, haven't used OctaMED in ages. What I can say is that if the sound works correctly if you boot a game from floppy, then the problem is not with the hardware.

Jsut did some more testing....It seems when i plugg inn the right RCA then it only plays 2 of 4 channels....Then if i unplugg it it plays all 4 channels out of the left rca
-
Does it do this in games also? (i.e. if you boot a game from floppy)

The sound is weird in games also....just tried a few and soun d effects isn't working etc....
And even demos is weird...Desert Dream etc....
-
That is pretty weird. Does look like a hardware thing if it does it in games too :-(
