Title: Installing Hard Drive in A1200

Hello everyone, i am new to owning a 1200, so please bear with me.

I have just purchased a 500mb 2.5" hard drive and i know i need to buy an ide cable, but do i also need to buy a power cable?

Also does anyone have a link to some good instructions for fitting a hard disk.

welcome to amiga :-)
no you don't need a power cable, the 2.5 inch disk take power from the ide cable.
here (http://wonkity.com/~wblock/a1200/a1200.html) you will find some info about amiga 1200 hardware and hard disks too.

here is a 2.5 to 3.5 adaptor if you want in the future to try a 3.5 inch hard disk amigakit (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=42&products_id=68&osCsid=83142459f4e19967d622deea00ddf6d1) and here (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=365&osCsid=83142459f4e19967d622deea00ddf6d1) is a 2.5 inch ide cable.
