Hi!
I know that CSPPC can be upgraded to 128 MB but does that memory have to be of any particular type? ie one sided, FP, ECC or what? Thanx.

Look here http://amiga.resource.cx
-
It did not answer my question completely.
-
Thought maybe it was in the usermanual.
Hopefully somebody else in here can help.

"memory
four 72 pin SIMM sockets accept 128 MB RAM
supports 4, 8, 16, 32 MB SIMMs 60-70 ns
64 bit interleaved RAM access"

Windows does not cut the mustard. But it does cut the cheese.

Hi kingkleks
you have 2 choises:
32MB EDO (only double sided)
32MB FPM (they should work even the single side one)
60ns
Pay attention only if the SIMMs are EDO they MUST be double side or they will be seen only as half size
Parity is not used on any Amiga CPU card.

Thanks for the info. Next question: I haven't taken a look at my CSPPC in a while but it was crowded in there. Would the two sided modules fit? Also it says the memory should be 60-70ns. Would the 50ns ones work? I think they should but does anybody have a different experience? Also those SIMM's should be installed in pairs but for 128MB do they have to be all identical, ie. from one manufacturer, one model?

@ Dandy:
If the CSPPC goes into an A3000 the tall modules won't fit. Also it doesn't say if they have to be put in matched pairs.

"Would the two sided modules fit?"
yep
"Also it says the memory should be 60-70ns. Would the 50ns ones work?"
yes (if your able to find 32MB EDO 50ns double-side) but not sure if you will get any "big" advantage with them
"I think they should but does anybody have a different experience?"
my personal experience was bad (PPC gone) but it was only a coincidence (i'm "quite" sure)
"Also those SIMM's should be installed in pairs but for 128MB do they have to be all identical, ie. from one manufacturer, one model?"
better if are all 4 identical but the pairs its ok as well.(4 identical 32MB EDO double-side here)
Take only as reference that if they are EDO, they MUST be double-side.

Hi,
@Framiga : if your cppc ppc cpu has not fry, try to get in touch with a french guy called Spik3r/DjStormX, he had unsolded its and resolded its with a BGA solder kit. It can also due to bad solder around the 68k parts and around the mobo connector.

Thanks CLS2086 but the card went sold last year to a guy here as 060MkIII :-)
