??? Does the Amiga emulator run smooth on a Mac?
??? Is it easy to set up, like WinUAE?
??? Do you need additional software to run the emulator?
??? What is the best Amiga emulator for Mac?
I am looking at this setup:
-20-inch widescreen LCD with 1680x1050 resolution
-2.0GHz Intel Core Duo with 2MB shared L2 cache
-1GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM
-250GB Serial ATA hard drive
-Slot-load 8x double-layer SuperDrive
-ATI Radeon X1600 graphics with 256MB GDDR3 memory
-Built-in AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth 2.0
Thanks, ya' all.

Nope..the Amiga emulation on a Mac isn't the same as on a Windows machine. The work Cloanto put into Amiga Forever is really primarily for Windows. After several aborted attempts I finally got 3.9 running on the Mac last weekend. WinUAE seemed best to me.

And don`t forget MacUAE is currently made for PPC. So on an IntelMac the mulator would itself run emulated.
The other approach: you run a PC Emulator on the Mac (don`t know if the emulators from Orange Micro already make direct use if the Intel CPU) and set up WinUAE

Hi,
no problem, just return your MAC as a PC by doing the XP CD boot trick (look on the net), and install WinXP and WinUAE, it will be much more better

beller: Is yours PPC or Intel?
Lemmink: I would like to avoid anything with Windows, I am looking for an quick one button setup.
CLS2086: The same answer as Lemmink.
So no easy setup like WinUAE...
Is there any work being done for an emulator on the Intel Mac? (link?)
Thanks so far for the replies.

Ricco...
I'm running a G5 dual 1.8 tower....also tried it on my G4 powerbook before I sold it and got a Toshiba! Just noticed the news item at the A.O home page regarding a Mac emulation site. Perhaps some help lies there!

Richard Drummond said on the EUAE mailing list that he doesn't have an Intel Mac to build or test on.
But if you're feeling brave, there's some details here (http://www.freelists.org/archives/uae/03-2006/msg00044.html) on where to get the latest source snapshot and compile it yourself.

E-UAE (PPC) works fine on a 2Ghz Intel Mac, about the same as on a 1.5Ghz G4. I use the Hi-Torro config program which makes the setup much easier... though none come close to WinUAE.
I guess we'll have to wait for an intel version, though 68K->x86 Jit already exists so it shouldn't be a problem!

bloodline: How does it emulate a standard A500? Can you run any game or program at original speed?

Sure, if you only want an A500.

That's all I need it for. 8-)
