Title: Error! Bad Args! When using AExplorer
Post by: on April 22, 2003, 07:18:20 PM
Ok, so I was prepared to give Amiga Explorer a go... I followed the instructions and all, but when I typed "Type SER: to RAM:Setup" on the amiga (to transfer the Aexplorer software from the PC to the Amiga) I got the "Error, bad args!" message in CLI.
I think it is because I didn't use a workbench disk, instead I used a disk that has a workbench-interface and a CLI-prompt.. (the disk contains a virus killer program). But I'm not sure this is the reason for the error. What else could have gone wrong (except cabling)?

Just a guess, but are you sure you're supposed to put "Type" in there? It sounds like they want you to type "SER: to RAM:Setup" into the CLI (although I'm not sure that'd work either).

If not, perhaps the Type command is missing from the boot disk you are using? Its ages since I used a real Amiga so I cant remember if such a command exists :-(

No, it says that the "Type" should be included in the command line... I forgot to mention that I didn't use regular WB for this, so I think that's the problem. I used another bootable disk which starts with a WB-interface and a CLI-function. I'll just wait until my WB arrives in the mail and then I'll try again.

Cheers,
Nef

I guess you're using an old version of AmigaOS. The "TO" parameter was added in Version 2.0 or so.

Try

type >ram:setup ser:

Didn't work that way either... I guess I'll just have to wait until my real WB shows up in the mail...
