Hi,
I've recently got an Amiga 600, and I've plugged in my SmartMedia card reader in the PCMCIA slot. On the PC it shows as a fixed harddrive, so I was hoping for it to show as HD0: or something. Does anyone know how I could get it to function as a drive on my Amiga?
Cheers

There's a CompactFlash driver up on Aminet and the readme (http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/~aminet/disk/misc/cfd.readme) suggests it will drive a SmartMedia card too.
See here. (http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/~aminet/aminet.cgi?string=PCMCIA)

assuming for the moment that you have an actual CF card in there for the reader to access, and that it has at least one digicam pic on it, what I'd do is get the 'fat95' filesystem from Aminet, install it into your L: directory and reboot the computer. More than likely that will allow the Amiga to 'see' whatever CF card you have in the PCMCIA drive.
This was how I resolved 'seeing' my Kodak Cardreader/SmartMedia card using my HIGHWAY USB card, similar situation, I was expecting the SM card to pop up as an icon on Workbench, and allow me access but it didn't until I added the filesystem for the Amiga to read it.
good luck and let us know if this works. .

That's right, the dosdriver for cfd does require the fat95 handler.
A word of warning regarding fat95 for use with floppies though... I used to use it and besides the fact that it never told me when i ran out of space on disk, simply leaving the file incomplete, it totally munged up my floppy drive.
I hope that this problem was fixed now that people are relying on it for use with their expensive flashcards?

dunno on that one - I just used the version that came on the Poseidon USB stack floppy, that came with the HIGHWAY card - but I haven't had any problems with messing up the SM cards to date yet (barring one incident with my wife's mac messing up the card and it locking the Amiga up afterward - but that wasn't the Amiga's fault).

I've got a SpiderUSB v2.0 card. Is it working with the Poseidon USB stack, or?
Is there any speedtests out between SpiderUSB and HighwayUSB for example?
Thanks for sm help! I love you Amiga people! :) Helpfull genies :)
