Title: Printers that will work with my Amiga 1000
Post by: AmigaFreak on March 16, 2006, 12:00:36 AM
Hey guys - Been gone awhile, but here I am.

Does anyone know of some printers (that I could get ink for) that will work with my Amiga 1000? I used to have an Epson printer that worked but they stopped producing ink for it.

Hi,

Which printer did you have? Something like an old FX-80 would be fine, and ribbons are still available for those. Or were you using something more recent?!

Assuming you're using Workbench 1.3, the list of supported printers "out of the box" is:
Alphacom Alphapro 101
Brother HR-15XL
CalComp ColorMaster / ColorMaster 2
Canon PJ-1080A
Commodore MPS-1000 / MPS-1250
Diablo 630 / Advantage D25 / C-150
Epson
Howtek Pixelmaster
HP Laserjet / Deskjet / ThinkJet / PaintJet
NEC Pinwriter
Okidata 293I / 92
Okimate 20
Quadram Quadjet
Qume LetterPro 20
Toshiba P351C / P351SX
Xerox 4020

I'd say the best bet for reasonable quality would be to try and get hold of an HP LaserJet as I think these are all backwards compatible.

Alternatively, try and get something that can emulate an Epson FX-series printer.

If you've had a printer connected to your A1000, I'm sure you're aware that the A1000's parallel port is of the opposite gender to a PC's port and that you'll need a specific lead for it.
