Hi there my name's Tony just come across your site after trying to find some information on the net about the Phillips CM8833-11 monitor i have (in full working order). I puchased new back in the 80's and for the last 8 years i have been using on my karaoke system. Now i want to link it to my laptop (15 pin vga out) is there anyone who could tell me if this is possible please. Thanx in anticipation.

It's "CM8833-II" not "CM8833-11".
It's not possible to connect it to VGA output.

Not directly, but it's possible with a VGA-TV adapter (http://www.tkk.fi/Misc/Electronics/circuits/vga2tv/index.html) since the 8833 has a scart socket.
But then it's gonna look crappy, flickery and low-res, even compared to the cheapest no-name 15" LCD monitor (which probably costs about the same as the converter..)

@Doobrey
Well, using this logic you can connect any old black and white TV set to VGA (with proper converter box), but it still doesn't make it practical.
So the answer is "No", for any practical uses. ;-)
Oh, and CM8833-II doesn't have (http://perso.wanadoo.fr/balleatomique/musee/accessoires/ecran/amiga-philips8833II2.JPG) a SCART-connector.

Then I sit corrected (I would stand, but I'm lazy on a Sunday ;-) )..got it confused with the original 8833 :crazy:
