Title: need help with A4000D IDE Harddrive
Post by: mbueler on March 10, 2006, 12:16:25 PM
Today I got my first A4000D,I already got a CSPPC card a month ago so.

well i put it all together and trying to install Workbench 3.1 or OS39, the setup is, A4000D with 3.1roms, CSPCC-233/68060+128mb ram,
a cybervision64, 2gb IDE hd(master) and IDE CD-RW(slave).

but theres no hd0: or cd0: in the early startup control,
and when i boot the 31 install disk my HD isnt displayed.!

I did try HDSetup and it partitioned the HD as 8mb Workbench and 2005mb work.
then i installed wb31 onto the workbench partion and rebooted when it asked me to.
after the reboot I`m back at the kickstart screen,so I boot of floppy again and find that the HD partitions have gone.

can someone help me with this problem please?

thanks

There will only be HD entries on the Amiga after the harddrive has been prepped.

After prepping the harddrive, you reboot the computer, load Workbench through disk (Workbench or Install disk) and format the partitions created. If they don't show up, run HDToolbox and try creating a bootable 250 MB partition, and remove the rest and try again.

You will only be able to get CD entries if you connect a CD drive to the SCSI controller of the PPC board.

If HDToolBox isn't showing the harddrive the drive is either faulty, not connected correctly or have the jumpers set wrong.

Have you ticked the box 'Bootable' on your first partition(DH0:)?

Hi.. You probably have the hd + cd both set to master. Or the hd on cable select.

Needs to be HD > Master , CD > Slave.
