Title: Quake on 68k
Post by: HardStep on March 07, 2006, 02:03:35 PM
Hi,
got ClickBooms Quake running with their last 060 executable, and to be honest i was positively surprised to see how the game runs on AGA+060+16mb fast ram. Other 68k Quake ports crash for some reason on my setup. I was wondering, if there  will be like 1 fps improvement in frame rate with 32mb fast ram? Or using other ports?

More memory won't make any difference.

HardStep,

forget about running quake on any Amiga cause is a waste of time and loss of quality and playbility
Play it on a PC
Get a version named D3Dquake cause it's the best quake modified version
I can play that version at 1600x1200 at 100fps 8xAA on a vulgar pc config:
athlon xp 2ghz cpu and a geforce 4 titanium
you can't imagine the diference compared betewen this and that clickboom buggy version or any other buggy quake amiga port
get it here:

dxquake.sourceforge.net

@Laser

Everybody knows it runs better on a PC.
My PC is standing 1m beside the Amiga.
Still, I am playing it on the Amiga.
Silly, heh? Why do I do that?

Because I CAN.

I can see someone jumping in every minute now to claim that Quake isn't playable at all on an Amiga :-)

Quake68k require a very fast cpu to play well..
Amiga 68k version is bad optimized.

Try to use Patchfor020 on quake060..:D

You'll see that quake060 is not so optimized :p

Or a Warp3D-supported graphic card.
