Title: What is your business here on amiga.org
Post by: ricco32097 on March 05, 2006, 11:53:10 PM
My business? Been reading here for years. Love it when somebody brings up a talk about an old game from the late 80's, like 'Batman', 'Ports of Call' and such. Or which joystick is the best - The Arcade, no doubt. Still loves my Amiga 500. I do not care so much about the AmigaONE or anything above Kickstart 2.0!

seams like you have lost too much, amiga has much more to offer than only these you say, but of course, this is your decision :-)

...I have seen the different models, but I do not have any interest in them. An A1200 is nice though. 8-)

Well, IMHO, 1.3 is nice and quirky because of its orange and blue-ness!

But for anything other than games use, I'd not bother with any of the 2.x series when 3.1 offers much more and works with the majority of older Amiga hardware.

And for an expanded Amiga with graphics card, it's pointless using anything less than 3.1...

But each to their own, depends on what you use your Amiga for at the end of the day - the important thing is that it is used and you enjoy it!

Looking at 1.3 isn't half bad.  The colors are actually quite good.  But... USING it...  UUUGHHH!!!  I cry whenever I have to use Kick1.3 and want to view files without icons.

As for 2.0, I could never use it on my A1000 when it came out.  3.0 is a work of art, if only the PAL/NTSC soft switch on the early startup menu actually worked with non-DOS disks.  I hate using Degrader's SurviveReboot feature to set the system to PAL, and not being able to use the OCS override.

Probably just morbid curiosity.

...that and reading the threads about classic harware hacking and emulation.

I'm an amiga user of 16 years standing (still own my original A500), who can't bear to leave the platform behind.

I also enjoy the friendly forun chitchat too.

I like to read and absorb info. I have 2 vanilla amigas that i like to game on and tinker with...

Wish I had more cash and technical knowledge - Until recently the proxy server hare at work blocked access to this site so I spend more time on Amigaworld.net.

Both great sites.

I like to read about all the new developments and enjoy the interesting discussions.

I don't have an Amiga any more, I'm quite happy with my Pegasos (for anything Amiga-ish), my Mac (for productivity apps) and my Vaio Laptop (for games, bittorrent, and anything else).

I was an Amiga user from '90 - '93 and then again 2000 - 2004 (came back after reading about the 'New Amigas running the revolutionary new Amiga OS called AmigaDE' that would coming out real soon)

Ironically, work (from whence I type this) allows amiga.org, but blocks AW ! I used to spend most of my work time there, but its still as good as it ever was !

I have an A1 at home, and a 1200.
I'm with cecilia ! :pint:

oh - I'm an amigan since '96 (egad ! its around and about my 10th anniversary !  :-o  :pint:  :juggler: )

SUCKER! :-D

I've been into Amigas since 1997ish (got my A1200 in '98).  I find Amigas have a certain charm that other platforms don't.  Tinkering on an Amiga is a fun experience.

The most fun period in my computing experience was between 1999-2001 when I was Amiga only and had net access.

From Amiga 500 to A600 to 1200 to 030, 040, 060, CV643D, Picasso IV, Amiga 4000, Tower conversions, 300 dollar tower conversion kits, MWB, NewIcons, GlowIcons, Amiga Format, DatorMagazin, CU Amiga, Deluxe Paint, Personal Paint, 1.3, 2.0, 3.0, 3.1, 3.5, 3.9. .  I feel I have been everywere and done it all.

I do not have any Amiga left and rarely touches WinUAE but it is great to feel young again when I read about Amiga here.

I'm an Amiga user of 17 years standing.

I own an A1200 in a PowerTower with a BlizzardPPC 200/040 256MB, FastATA MkIII, Mediator 1200, Voodoo 5500 64MB, RT3189, SBLive, MM210TV, 32MB IDE Compact Flash Drive, 4GB HDD, 40 CDRW.

A Pegasos with Voodoo 3000-TV AGP, RT8139, 40GB HDD.

An AROS native AMD K6-300, 384MB RAM, NVidia GeForce2MX PCI, SBLive, 10GB HDD

And an Amithlon box that hasn't been used in over a year.

I use UAE on Windows, Linux and a 17" iMac CoreDuo.

I come here because I'm a sad person who can't let go, and also I have made many friends since I joined here.

I also think only hardware made by CBM and Escom can claim to be Amiga.

Before anyone accuses me of being a "Blue-Troll", I use OS4 on a near-daily basis too, and can't wait for it to be released then I can buy it for my A1200.

Always loved Amigas (first seen in 1989, first owned 1990).

Use mine (must fix that A1200 keyboard, CD32 won't spin up, not enough powerpoints for all the A500s...) whenever I can, if not use WinUAE and eUAE on Fedora.

This was the first forum I ever joined after getting my NA network card in 1999 at Uni..

I like to help people if I can.

Still waiting for the day when I once again have difficulty logging on because a.org is /.ed.

I've been an Amiga user from the start of A500 days (left the A1000 out due to money - jeesh College is expensive...) back in '87...

I also worked as a Representative/Sales for Commodore Computers (including the Amiga) to the US Military Exchange Program... between 87-88... still got the name tag, LOL...

Today, I got 3 Amigas (A1200 in a tower, A600 and A500), one C128D (Plastic with Carrying handle...) and an beat up SX-64, and of course two IBM Compats...

I can't stay away...Pixar's "A Bug's Life" puts' it best:

"Don't go towards the light!"

"I can't help it - it's so pretty!"
