Title: Cheap PPC alternative?
Post by: Amigamia on March 04, 2006, 02:53:56 PM
Who said that we have to wait for someone to build a new PPC motherboard?
Why do we have to spend an Exaggerated amouth of money for a motherboard that supports OS4?

What if we could do THIS (http://msaros.blogspot.com/2006/02/cheap-ppc-alternative.html) ?

For about $100?

What do you guys think?

I think it's not all that great. A bunch of what ifs. What if we put an amiga on a PCI card and stuffed it in a pc and had a bunch of software that will never be written controll the pc parts?

Why not just put together a single ppc board all by it's self with a ppc and aos? Wouldnt it be cheaper than putting the ppc/aos board in a pc? Hey, if we are going to go the wierd hardware software route, why not just port aos to intel?

Problem is, Amiga and community are unrelated. Aros = comunity. Amiga = private sector(as in you have no say).

Sorry I didn't know there was already a forum on that. I tried to search for it but the search function in here seems to suck.

No need to apologise, these things are bound to happen.

Forget about 100.00. No one will make any money on that. Now, 500.00, that is different. I will be producing a card that will sell for that much with dual processors for the real power enthusiasts for more. Nothing over 999.00.
A real PDA, too. I will release the specs soon. No vaporware here or hoaxes either. The entire 68000 library of amiga software will run in emulation as a thread. The only problem will be that software that makes hardware chip based calls.
I am developing a binary variable optimizing compiler ala rosetta for the apple os x ppc to x86 conversion software. I just got source for the old 68000 assembler. I am working with qnx software. Have been for a long time. They ported the amiga os over 10 years ago. Then amiga inc. stupidly backed out.
Go to Qnx.com to check out the details. It is here to stay. I am using an industry standard pc104 plus or ebx motherboard.
With patented features. I will be granted a patent on the design. I'm in process of filing. As soon as that is done. I will be getting the design to the fabricators/designers. Then it is just 30 days to a working prototype.
Then I subcontract the initial production out in kits. Then I will use the profits to buy my own machinery. Within 6 months I will have my own factory turning out boards.
I own everything. No one can hold me hostage. Case closed.
