Does anyone know if this is possible? is there any way the A1200 can have its internal chip ram upgraded to say 16MB or would there be a problem/conflict with the way the custom chips work?
By the way the Amiga is a fab machine, and for all the raw horsepower the modern pc's have, its still not truely multimedia - just a bunch of good hardware bolted together - the sum of the parts is less than the whole! (unlike me old miggy!)
Cheers!

The A4000 I believe had a jumper for up to 8MB of chip, but AFIAK, it didn't do anything. 2MB is the max on the A1200.

Yes.

No.

Well, several problems.
A) Custom chips can only address 2MB.
B) Some parts of the memory map must be reserver for custom chips, ROM etc. With all 16MB being chip memory there would be no way to access these registers or ROM.
So no, it won't happen, ever.

ok mate, thanks for this; just thought it would be a nice idea!
I dont really know enough know about the tech side to know if it is feasible - ive been out of the scene for a while.
Also what is the best gfx card available for the amiga now? and would it be worthwhile investing?
