Hello
I've had a quick look through the forums for an answer to my question but haven't found an answer yet.
I'm interested in knowing what the status of Eyetech is. Are they still trading? Are they still following up any orders that people have? Or are they just now supposed to be manufacturing hardware?
Thanks in advance

I don't have a definite answer, but the last time I ordered something from them I was not charged and did not receive my order. I received no notice of cancellation from them, and my emails were unanswered. My guess is they're gone.

No, they are not trading with end-users anymore- the last ocassion was when they sold off their tower stock a few months back.
I think they are persuing other markets outside the Amiga to pay the bills.
-
Hmmm thanks guys.
Well looks like I'll never get money/products owed to me then.
I basically have an A1200 tower system that's unusable. The only item I'm missing is the PPC that I returned because it was defective. The only thing I was supplied with since was a lot of false hope and fake promises.
:-?

That sucks! Maybe if they will not return a working PPC or refund your money then you should consider taking action against them :-(

Yes possibly. I've been a bit lazy following it all up really. I guess I was still being hopeful/naive that they might come through with something. I may try emailing them and seeing what happens from there.
It would take fair bit of cash to get the system running without any assistance from Eyetech as the graphics card in it is a BVision. So I would need to buy a new accelerator and a new graphics card.
The whole intention was to buy a better system than my current A4000/040 Retina BLT Z3 (now replaced with a Picasso IV), but I'm not sure I can justify spending more money on it as I've got nothing to show for my last spend.

I think its a case of 6 of one ...
Companies (good and bad) dont tend to do a lot unless you chase em... especially if somethings been going on a while, and the customer hasnt made an effort either...
chase up before you complain to all and sundry !
-
I chased them like a dog after a hare in the earlier days. I actually was give one PPC card and then it was replaced with another that didn't work. I even had one of their guys come to my house to sort things out. After that though it was a case of "we'll swap with an Amiga One". When I chased that up they said "we're waiting for OS4". Maybe they are still waiting... :-)
I have chased. I'm going to chase again hence asking for the status of Eyetech.
The annoyance they put me through and probably many other users I feel I have a right to feel a tad disgruntled.

No, they are not trading with end-users anymore-
So why is their website with a shop-system still online then?
What would happen if I place an order (actually still possible)?
Would I get an email saying "We don't want to sell this item anymore"? This sounds all so weird...
-
fair enough then.
last I heard, they were also waiting for CPUs.
its probably worth writing an actual letter.
the service used to be pretty good, certainly around the time I bought my A1 mobo (2003) but I also gather things arent going particularly well - hence also amikit's comments about other directions. this usually explains things like drops in customer service.
hope you get sorted soon, and remember to keep nagging !
-
Thanks Agafaster, I think I'll try a letter as you say.

Hope you don't get another 'Analogic Computers' style incident.
A few people here have experienced their sub-standard customer relations.
