Title: Page download problems (renamed wGet problems!)
Post by: Nick on November 10, 2002, 08:42:00 PM
Hello.

Heres my problem for you guys to help me with.

I`am trying to find a simple program which will download web pages without using any browser.

I have tried a couple of things. The current attempt is wGet. It seems like the very program. Shame
I can`t get it to work. I basically type:

9.OS:> OS:Internet/wGet/wget http://www.NOLIN.net/Index.htm

and its answer is:

--20:13:27--  http://www.NOLIN.net/Index.htm
           => `Index.htm'
Connecting to www.NOLIN.net:80...
www.NOLIN.net: Unknown error.

I`am starting to get a tad annoyed with it. Please can you help? I have tried a couple of options,
but to no avail. Its the same problem every time. Shame it seems to know as much about the problem as
me.

I`am using Miami if you need to know.

Thanks

--12:28:05--  http://www.nolin.net/Index.htm
           => `Index.htm'
Connecting to www.nolin.net:80... connected!
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 301 Moved Permanently
Location: http://www.nolin.net/index.htm [following]
--12:28:06--  http://www.nolin.net/index.htm
           => `index.htm'
Connecting to www.nolin.net:80... connected!
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: unspecified [text/html]

    0K ....                                                   @   4.32 KB/s

12:28:08 (4.24 KB/s) - `index.htm' saved [4773]

Note the case of nolin.net not NOLIN.net (and again for index?)URLs
are case sensitive in most cases.

Give a try to GiambyNetGrabber (its on aminet), works great but has some remaining bugs, its a pity it is not developped anymore.

@Miles

Hmmm. I tried it in exactly the same case. I even copied what you put.
I don`t understand.

@Lionstorm

That has a GUI. I`am really looking for something which uses CLI. Thanks anyway.

Strange, worked ok here.  I used wGet 1.7.  Tried it again now:

WORKBENCH:>TEMP:wget-1.7/wget http://www.nolin.net/index.htm
--10:09:19--  http://www.nolin.net/index.htm
           => `index.htm'
Connecting to www.nolin.net:80... connected!
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: unspecified [text/html]

    0K ....                                                   @   4.29 KB/s

10:09:22 (4.21 KB/s) - `index.htm' saved [4743]

WORKBENCH:>

Hmmmm, indeed!
