Title: Computing, birth of genius?
Post by: Edvard on February 24, 2006, 03:39:54 PM
Hello everyone, i'm a graphic designer doing freelance work such as posters, broachers, logos etc and gonna do a course in the autum. I remember a few years ago when computing was studied and the people who natural understood the concepts, applications, programming etc. There was someone in the class who aspergers syndrome. He was so clever it was unbelievable. The amount of knowledge he had was mind boggiling. At the point, my character was changed with all of his stunning outlooks and information he had. He was fully into computing, especialy the amiga. The subject has to be evolutionary and revolutionary becuase it is so stunning what functions computers can really do. Comments?

Jay Miner, the developer of the original Amiga graphics chipset, based his design on the features of a military flight simulator.  The Amiga was only new in the sense that those graphics acceleration features hadn't come to the desktop yet.

Nowadays it is a simple matter to emulate those features on a system that lacks those features.  It's just that those systems have to be faster by several orders of magnitude to get the original performance.

The story I heard was that Jay's dog designed the chips. He'd place a gate, then wait to see if the dog approved, barking to show whether or not it was okay. That dog even got credit in the original A1000 cases.

I think he'd have gone through several dogs in the many years that would've taken!

Still a cool thing to have on a computer case!

How many dogs does it take to design a computer?
