Has anyone sucessfully connected a PS2 mouse (with or with out wheel support) to an amiga?
I've found this:
http://rdc.gfns.net/ps2m/index.html (http://rdc.gfns.net/ps2m/index.html)
But it looks scarily difficult, and I'd need to learn how to program pic chips as well.
I'm hoping that there is a nice convertor box avail somewhere, that will make my life easy. I've seen on ebay one for the Serial port, but I don't want to block that port up in case I need it...

Eyetech do one (as do various other suppliers) see here:

I use a USB mouse with a PS2 adaptor, which accentially means I`m using a PS2 mouse. I have full wheel support and its very good. The Eyetech Punchinello mk3 is damn good. Be sure to get a Logitech mouse though as they are the best supported by the hardware. Yes some others may work, but I get the impression they are aimed mainly at Logitech`s standards. I used a Logitech optical mouse. Damn damn good!

Or just get an HighWay (or SubWay for the A1200) and use an
USB-Mouse. Won't work with selfbooting games and won't be
available in the early-startup-menu after a hard reset (but
will be there after a normal soft reset).
But is 100% perfect for WB-use and you'll get lots of extra
posibilities (USB-ZIP,scanner,printer .....) "for free" with it.

I'm using a "Mr. Mysza " on my 3000 with a Logitech wheel mouse. It works well as long as you don't try to use it with a KVM switch.
I'm using a Logitech USB mouse (one of the ones that uses light not a ball) with a wheel on my 1200T (with a Highway card) and it works a whole lot better. I'd recommend getting USB.

i have topolino 3 but have an infared keyboard/mouse
which was meant for a pc but works fine
-
btw, is it possible to use a serial pc mouse, on the amiga?
-
Yes, look here (http://ftp.uni-paderborn.de/aminet/aminet/hard/drivr/SerMouse221.readme)
Offcourse only for system-friendly SW and not in the boot-menu.
-
would it have like 4/5 button support though, or middle mouseclick/wheel support?
-
personally i like the old style amiga two button mouse
-
3rd buuton yes, whell no, as these weren't invented back than.
/me is also not sure if there ever was a serial mouse with wheel.
-
Man! I´m long gone addicted to doing screen-shifting with the middle mouse button.

Thx ppl for your learned opinions!
I intend to connect it up to to my Belkin 8-way KVM switch, so compatibility on that score is a must.
I shall now go away and consider my options...
