According to Eyetech Group, new AmigaOne motherboards will be ready for sale in the next few months (telephone conversation). That's all :-)
-
Sounds like good news ... hope there won´t be any further delays ...

Thought Eyetech had abandoned the AmigaOne completely :-?
Anyway...this is good news
Maybe some of us can finally try out OS4 since we don't seem to get it for our classic machines (yet)
-
Woooooot!! cant wait
Hope it's as it seems
-
Yeah sure, redhouse even claimed there would be no more Amigaones and he was stupid to ever get involved with them.
You guys would believe anything, if someone claimed the Amigaone cured cancer i bet they would sell out instantly.
-
The Amigaone cures cancer?!?!?!
/me runs off to buy more Amiga's
-
they should've said "...next few months AND two more weeks" to keep the true Amiga spirit...
-
Will the new Amiga Ones have the faults of his brothers, or will be fixed?
-
Possibly and logically fixed...If they are stupid, not.
-
Will it be :
New models ?
Actual models with or without fixes ? Micro and/or XE ? G3 only ? or G4 ?
-
Is it worth to buy one? May be if they reduce the price. Otherwise it is more logical to wait until the release of OS4 final and new hardwares.
-
According to Hyperion-Entertainment's IRC session on AmigaWorld.net AmigaOS 4 Prerelease 4 would have been OS4 final if there had been hardware available.
Personally, I just hope they get the bugs worked out so I can copy my hard drive from my MicroA1-C and sell it off soon. I've never had much luck with it. I'm sure it can be fixed but I don't have the patience to deal with it. It has hardly been used since I got it. I want a PowerVixxen LT!

No he didn't. He said something about being mad (which is the only way to stay sane is the Amiga community), and mentioned there won't be any new models unless he gets an industry order. He has never said anything about stopping production of existing models, and there are a number of reasons as to why the most recent batch of MicroA1s weren't sold - none of which I'm going to go into here, as I don't know the truth - Alan has never made a statement about it.

At the moment it's still the only hardware. I don't believe for a second the Troika and the PowerVixen are real yet because of a lack of photographs showing the boards and showing them in action.
The original XE has a bug less; the onboard sound works so it is not as broken as some people like to say. On a month by month basis, OS4 is working better and better on it.
If this is true then I hope they will have made some more XE's because I own an XE and a micro and the XE is so much better than the micro.
I hope this is true.

@Phantom
 (let's just say I will be very surprised if this happens)

I think we are all tired of all the talking and seen no action, all these years I learned one think "dont trust anything they say until you see it on sale" (and when you see it,run for it!you dont know how long it will be available).

I'm glad I run for my XE when it was available :-)
This lack of new hardware is getting very frustrating.

I'm glad I never spent any money on an AmigaOne or Pegasos :)

Phantom: According to Eyetech Group, new AmigaOne motherboards will be ready for sale in the next few months (telephone conversation). That's all.
This is public information?
ThEcRoW: Will the new Amiga Ones have the faults of his brothers, or will be fixed?
Given that the MAI Logic website is still riddled with broken images and missing content, we can only hope they have found a new chipset. That probably means a whole new crop of bugs that will have to be covered up until software workarounds are made.
I hate the low-volume market. Having worked for small stores, I've used rediculously expensive "professional" equipment that makes a budget, consumer-level Hewlet Packard look like a Toyota Camry. Nothing like working on a $150,000 photo printer that streaks like crazy due to dust, and breaks down every couple weeks because a $0.02 spring came loose.
PulsatingQuasar: The original XE has a bug less; the onboard sound works so it is not as broken as some people like to say. On a month by month basis, OS4 is working better and better on it.
I thought the whole point to using proprietary hardware is that development of software is easier. It's a shame how long it takes to make these patches, that people are led to believe that problems are not actually "problems" because they can always be patched in software sometime later, and how enthusiasticly AmigaOne owners shoot down these "rumors" of bugs.
A bug is a bug, and workaround is a workaround. Why can't people just use real hardware?
-
What ever... If it was my company, and i had a product about to ship, i'd be harping it on my website to get public interest and preorders before i started shipping, i might even promise t-shirts.
-
if you did then you'd just get all the "we'll believe it when we see it" stuff so much better just to all of a sudden say we HAVE but that said I'm only hoping not necessary believing. :-D
-
Few months...?
I wait A1 & AOS4.0 since Zico specs.
I can wait just other 3 or 4 years, I'm not worried, i can live without A1 or, better without AInc.
yeah, when Eytech will need for money...they could sell other A1.
For now my eyes are happy looking my Amigas od my desk :-D
-
I'm not..... I want my A1 damn it!!!!
-
Are these new mother boards, as in, new specs? Or are they the same ol... same ol.. ?
Are any of you guys going to seriously pay THOUSANDS for a six or seven year old motherboard with buggy north bridge, and a CPU running only in the HUNDEREDS of megahertz, and with single data rate 100/133MHz (?) RAM?
Guys......

This is random speculation...
However, I wouldn't be surprised with what I've heard over the last few weeks/days if the Eyetech A1 turns out to be based on the Troika. :-o

well so far, i've paid a few HUNDEREDS for an 11 year old machine, with a 15 year old chipset, and a CPU running only in the TENS of megahertz, and with single data rate 32bit 50Mhz ram

One odd OS is enough for me...
Hanging on to classic for at least 10 more years.

New AmigaOne in the next few months
If this happens, a new production of Teron based AmigaOnes ship from Eyetech in this time Window(by 5/20/06), I will literally fly to AmiWest and eat my shoe for the crowd.

5 mins ago I couldn't care less about the A1s. But now... now I want new ones to come out soooo badly
Perhaps this could be a video extra on Amiga Forever 2007?

Sorry, but even with the TROIKA's promises, i find it hard to believe that new HW will come out before the end of the year.
Let's hope i'm wrong

From the PCB-layout and quality of the bluprint this does not look like a hoax to me.
I only wonder why this news hasn't made it to the Amigaworld-forums yet.

Why?
Simply because those on aw.net deserve it. Troika has not provided one single bit of proof that a board exists and when asked the usual questions "have you got a licence from Amiga Inc?", "Please prove the board exists" etc the majority on there turn on the people asking questions with "can you do better?", "what have you done for the community?", "why the negativity?, i bet your a troll".
See this (http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=18287&forum=33#277429) thread.
Posting a few "dancing bannanas" and "when its done" smilies does not cut it anymore.
-
Simply because those on aw.net deserve it.
Why do you generalize it that much? It's not true that all AW.net users think like that. There are in fact many very critical about Troika. Even some moderators.
Are you really hoping for Troika as a hoax to make you feel that you "were right and always knew it"? Or is it rather because you were suspended for a few days (OldTimeUser) on Amigaworld after your personal insults?
-
@humppa
my guess is that Savan would go for the "were right and always knew it"

@Savan
"Simply because those on aw.net deserve it" is a really bad generalisation. Even the thread you linked to has plenty of people making the point that Troika have shown nothing of value... just picking out some quotes from that very thread (and quite a few are from regular AW.net posters):
"Just sorting out that license issue and writing a driver for the Kryptos, right?" (hatschi, 628 posts)
"More carrot dangling. Why not just release your so-called existing product instead of making silly remarks. you are about as reliable as a ashtray is on a moterbike."
"Are you blind or what? Troika has not shown us that a board actually exists. For a company what has shown us piss all, they do have a nice fan base." (OldTimeUser, 33 posts)
"Words, just words..." (Pentrite, 203 posts)
"If by 'good times', you mean the release of your board, why haven't we seen any pictures or anything yet? Actions please, not words." (Me, 1350 posts)
"I think more people would wait quietly and more happy if you just gave us a project status update, so that we have some estimate on how long we might have to wait.
Also it would be nice with some proof that this project even exist, so even a photo of a prototype board would help alot. I myself is very skeptical, since we have been let down by false promises so many many times in the past." (Tomas, 497 posts)
"Yawn......" (Wol, 425 posts)
"If you have something show it, otherwise go away. I'm just tired of false promises and waiting for nothing." (_TheCrow, 182 posts)
... and so on and so forth. Frankly I'm sick of generalisations about AW.nets membership.
-
Frankly I'm sick of generalisations about AW.nets membership.
hear hear, well spoken bruce.
I'm an AW user too - I came here needing amiga pastimes while at work, cos the bl**dy net admins have blocked off aw as a chat/forum (quite right too!) but they forgot to block AO, lucky me !
you dont see me coming on here lobbing generalisations about AO users.
-
To make you feel better, the majority deserve it.

Your right, in Amigaland the skeptical ones who dont just believe what Amiga companies feed them always end up being right.
Everything what is connected with Amiga Inc has a big black cloud over it, OS4 is frozen because of a silly licence and there is no hardware. The way i see it is the people who never purchased an Amigaone board have had a very lucky escape.
-

just shut up.
I was able to get an AmigaOne, and I have OS4. i dont feel unlucky at all, so stop being so silly.
-edit-
I would also like to point out that no, I am not one of your blind fanatics who automatically believes and loves everything out of AI.
-
Savan wrote:

If you think that the majority of the several thousand strong userbase of AmigaWorld.net believe every piece of hype shoveled at them by companies like Amiga, Inc. then you yourself are blindly believing the words of the few naysayers, based on the posting habits of a few hopelessly optimistic members. You're the sheep, not the majority of AW users.
OS4 is frozen
Actually, work continues on OS4 on a daily basis. Just because there is no way to buy it *right now* doesn't mean everything is frozen. Admittedly, I can only say that because I happen to be in a priveliged position, and I know you won't take my word for everything, but that is the truth of the matter.
The way i see it is the people who never purchased an Amigaone board have had a very lucky escape.
Actually, I feel pretty lucky that I got my AmigaOne when they were available, and I wouldn't sell it for any amount of money... unless something else did arrive that ran OS4.

Ummm. You really haven't thought that through have you? The MAJORITY of those 4177 user don't post anything in the forums, or at all.
