Title: Looking for an internet tool...
Post by: peroxidechicken on February 15, 2006, 08:11:35 AM
I want accurate info on how many bytes I'm sending and receiving whilst using the internet.  Idealy the app that does this will be free, small and suitable for Win2K.

Any suggestions?

you could just double click on the network connection and it's written there :P

but i guess if you want accuracy...

Ethereal (http://www.ethereal.com/) is a network protocol analyser, but it does the function you talk about.

Whoa there!  What I just tried to download was 12.1 megs!  One of the reasons I want to watch my usage is because I'm running up against the limitations of my account.

I get my internet access through a wireless pcmcia card and some custom software supplied with it.  Unfortunately there is no networking icon displayed in the taskbar so I rely on the sometimes flakey custom software to track my I/O.

But none-the-less, that's for your suggestion.
