Hi to all again....
Since 1990 with an Amiga 500 and since 1994 with an Amiga 1200, I was waiting for a new Amiga....
After 10 years I came across a big dilemma.... AmigaOne or Pegasos. I purchased Pegasos G4@1Ghz in September of 2004.
After of 1 and a half year I changed my mind. I can't live without this name, this name that changed my life. The name is "AMIGA".
When I see AMIGA now (everywhere, on internet, on magazines, even on some greek magazines like an article), tears are running from my eyes...
I can't live without AMIGA. So I decided to sell my Pegasos and try to buy an AmigaOne instead. MorphOS is very good I must say, but it's not Amiga, for me it's a clone, if anyone likes it or not, that's the truth for me.
I want AMIGA again, like the old glory days, I want to be really happy again. From where I can buy a brand new AmigaOne motherboard?
I want AMIGA computer, AMIGA software, everything that writes AMIGA on it.
As I said, after 3 years (Phantom206 was my previous nickname and as I wrote 3 years before): "Everybody say to buy a PC, buy my HEART says to buy an AMIGA"...I will follow that...I will follow my heart once more, like in 1990, like in 1994....like in 2006...
A big thanks to all Amigans out there that keep Amiga alive and makes it even better...
A big thanks to the father of Amiga, Jay Miner, this man needs a big statue really. I'm sure he had never thought that this "machine" could change a man's life completely.
Thanks... and I am very happy that I am back to amiga.org again.

You must buy it second hand these days, as the production runs were completly sold out and most people think that eyetech wont do another run.. :-(
There is a other board running OS4 in developement though, but it wont bear the name Amiga afaik..
No people seems to know a eta, so we can only wait...
There is also a new accelrator for a1200 in developement, which is supposed to be released anytime now, though i dont believe it until i see it. This board can also be used as a standalone machine or can be hooked up to a1200 for access to the old a1200 chipset. This one will also run OS4.
Both projects has been verified by hyperion.

Hello there.
I would have kept the Peggy.
Okay I'm all up for the keeping the Amiga faith, but I to also have a realistic side to. Amiga is a long, long, long way fro m being what it was (if it will every do that.) That was way back when computing was in its infancy. Nowadays you have game systems that have 30x more power then most supercomputers in the day, you have litigation, red tape, software patents, mergers. It's a different world. Much different world.
I would just wait for newer boards to come out, that will have more current support.

welcome back. I think I saw your posts at morphzone. Also the avatar seems familiar.
Thanks... and I am very happy that I am back to amiga.org again.
I don't get why you needed to stop writing here because you bought a pegasos ? There're pegasos folks here too, (including very knowledged ppl like piru) it's not forbidden to be a member of multiple boards, as far as I know.
I want AMIGA computer, AMIGA software, everything that writes AMIGA on it.
You should be aware that this statement includes crap that's been advertised at amiga com.
Btw, if you're really keen on joining the "red camp" you should also check amigaworld. Most A1 users gather there.

Not to mention a range of sanitary towels.
I don't think he cares what the product is as long as it's got AMIGA written on it .

Hi. You know, you can just get a pen and write 'Amiga' on a fast PC (or your Peg). Should satisfy those cravings.
-
Hi,
you should have a try with an Aone at a party first !
Did you know that you can also intalled "WB 3.9" on MOS ? And that will mostly make it like AOS 4.0 :-)
You can also buy a Theron board and put a AmigaOne Proto on it :-D
-
Hi,
Welcome back - lots of people are waiting for AmigaOne (or OS4 capable) boards. Check out http://www.troikang.com/ for the Amy 05, which is (hopefully) coming out soon.
Personally, I think that OS4 release is now overdue, and they are losing potential customers by delaying further as people sell their ageing hardware and move to UAE, or worse - windoze.
Still, better 'right first time' than 'hello, my name is Bill Gates' :-D
-
Welcome back dude!
:-D

OK i didn't mean it for real...I didn't mean that if you give me a Yugo Zastava with Amiga stickers I will buy it :P (I was just saying my feelings...)
1. How I can run AmigaOS 3.9 on my Pegasos system? (I hope not through emulation, otherwise I don't like it)
2. Do you know when new AmigaOne motherboards will come out again?
3. What is your opinion? Sell Pegasos and buy an AmigaOne motherboard or just keep the Pegasos one and don't buy anything.

its good to see that some of the blue, have come to their senses. and now admit that there is only one amiga....
welcome back phantom!!
soon there will be new amiga hardware and the amigaos4.0(that now is done!) will be bundled with it. so now is the rigth time to return :)
its a good choice to sell that pegasos now, when you still can get some money for it. everyone know its not an amiga and never will be, its just a clone as you state in your post. this machine will soon collect dust and be worthless....
you have done the rigth choice, nothing can beat the feeling of the real amiga!!

Can all the red-trolls please shutup, or feck off back to BAFWorld.net?

So want an amiga?
lol
ever considered the ppc classics? that's amiga and nothing more. peg/a1 is like having uae...
of course you must realize it is only a hobby machine, no real work can be done in these platforms nowdays, and that includes pegs/a1's... unless you install linux, but then it is not amiga
-
Always Amiga was my hobby and I am really proud of it... PC sucks (I own one, as most do), but keropi "an den petakseis thn malakia sou de mporeis" :)

@c64 doc
The only thing Amiga that has the A1 is the operating system. The board is crappy as hell and dont't give nothing revolutionary as the Amiga gave back in the day.
Just my two cents...

Clearly obvious what Phantom and c64_d0c are up to.

1. How I can run AmigaOS 3.9 on my Pegasos system? (I hope not through emulation, otherwise I don't like it)
It is widely known that Amiga OS 3.9 is written for 68k processors. Your Pegasos has a PPC processor. This does mean that emulation has to be involved somewhere.
2. Do you know when new AmigaOne motherboards will come out again?
They won't. Mai appears to be dead, Eyetech is MIA and the AmigaOne project was a dead loss with Alan saying it would have been cheaper just to pay every A1 owner $500 not to buy a motherboard.
3. What is your opinion? Sell Pegasos and buy an AmigaOne motherboard or just keep the Pegasos one and don't buy anything.
My recommendation? Yes, sell the Pegasos. Please. And get an A1. With your technical naivete, your devotion to a meaningless name, and your completeley unrealistic optimism flying in the face of all logic, you'd fit right in.

All I can say is that since update #4 for AOS 4.0 I got the same feeling back as I had when I bought my A4000 -93 and that is a great feeling.
I love it and it doesn't get any more amiga than this, period...
Yes... this *is* AOS and behaves like it. The real thing that makes you feel right at home. It's just *so* much better than the previous versions...
Have a look at aw.net and ask around...
-
They only suck huge amount of power. Cheap, available and runs WoW. :-D
-
I knew this thread would start a flame war ! Ahh, if only I belonged to a camp, it's not fun at all having to justsit back and watch all the other ppl do the badmouthing.
:flame: :destroy:
-
....and i thought that the blue, have come to their senses ... at least phantom have. its no strange you blue loose your users of your clone amiga, with your attitude..
like HotRod says in his post "The real thing that makes you feel right at home" and that is aos4.0.. nothing can beat the real thing :)
if you are blue dont waste our time with flamming war, please... all lets behave ok!

I wouldn't be the farm on that.

I hope that I didn;t say anything to start a war between you guys as you say. I simply write what I feel. I am an Amiga user since 1990 so Pegasos computers are clones of Amiga for me (that doesn't mean that they are not good at all).
I know that the motherboard of Pegasos is much better than the AmigaOne motherboard, that's why I am confused.
But to make this move, from Pegasos to AmigaOne is very risky I think at the moment. Because as I can see no AmigaOne motherboards will be at the stores soon (or a new one motherboard?) and Pegasos as I can see is still selling.
I don't know, I think I must sit down and think more logically this time.

@Phantom
If you want to buy my MicroA1-C I will sell it as soon as the PowerVixxen comes out because the AGA chipset will make it more compatible than any in the AmigaOne series.
Yes I know that the MicroA1-C has an 800 MHz processor and the PowerVixxen will have half of that but it makes more sense for me to have a 12 year old computer working hard and upgrade my PC to something newer. I don't like this situation any better than anyone else. :-(
