Title: Piv Flicker Fixer Scan Rate
Post by: on February 12, 2006, 10:08:37 PM: Hi, I read somewhere that you can alter the scan rate of the Piv flicker fixer to > 31khz. But I cannot figure out how to do this. Can anyone be of assistance?

A quick run of PicassoMode96 TNG and wooooo.....nice solid Hires and Hires laced screens :)

I am also gonna take a look at a cheap LCD screen for the 1200. Aparently some of those can take Hires laced and still look cool.

How dare you call the Picasso IV a mere scan doubler! ;)

i cant seem to work out that Picassomode NG, how did u change the refresh rate?

Was it 150 Hz? My PAL is 100 and NTSC 120Hz.

Sorry, I'm not sure what rate you're talking about. Did you mean to write kHz (rather than Hz), referring to the horizontal scan rate?

Post by: on February 13, 2006, 09:19:35 AM: Hi peeps, sorry but I can only tell you that it works for the Piv. As for other GFX cards I simply do not know because I have not got one. To change the setting choose the PAL screenmode from PicassoMode96TNG and adjust acordingly. Keep in mind that you may blow your monitor if you are allowed to go to far.
I will put up a screenshot tonight if anyone cannot see what I mean.

Screen refresh; I never counted/tested what's the max kHz it can do, but quite high - somewhere between 50 - 80 kHz... :-D

I went all the way up to 90khz (and very nice it looked too) but you do loose the early startup screen. It seems to be ok up to around 63-64khz then I loose it. Oddly, games booted from floppy work fine tho. Ideas anyone or have I found the hardware limit?

Post by: on February 15, 2006, 12:35:39 PM: Found out today that the Early Startup Menu comes back again if I increase the Khz further. Seems to be a black hole at around 63khz. Not sure if it my monitor or the Piv, but when I "went for broke" and set the flicker fixer to 85khz the early boot screen returned, and I have to say that Hires and Hires+Laced look sooooooo solid and cool that I nearly had to rush to the bathroom (Did I really just say that? LOL) :-o

Still cant figure how to post pics to the forum tho. Am I really that stupid? :-D

Noticed the same, that at some point the early ss menu was gone, but pal modes would appear fine at the same time.

However, I did notice that when the horizontal freq was not the default or 2x the default, scrolling in games tends to be a bit jumpy at some occasions. Getting it back to 50Hz made it smooth again.
