Title: Cocolino driver - Anyone else noticed this?
Post by: AmigaMance on February 12, 2006, 07:00:32 PM
When the driver is installed, i get a noticable lower CPU/FPU 68k benchmark from SysSpeed. I don't know if my system is actually slowed down, so it might not be an issue at all, but i believe that this shouldn't occur anyway.

I was thinking of buying a Cocolino, how do you like yours?  Is the number of mice that work limited or do most all PS2 mice work?  I might be better off with a USB interface and an USB mouse.  I want a nice new optical USB mouse with a scroll wheel that works.

I've got a Cocolino too.  I use it with a USB trackball with a PS/2 adapter through a KVM and it works beautifully.

I do not use the driver.  The scroll wheel feature was handy, but I had a problem where the mouse would jump to the upper left corner of the screen and stay there until I disconnected and reconnected the mouse.  This was even before running it through the KVM.  This never happens without the driver.

I've got a cocolino and never had that problem, mind you I've got a laptop PS/2 mouse connected, not a USB one.

Maybe that's what's causing the problem?

no it has nothing to do with usb that's a missunderstanding because i wrote before that i have the cocolino system that works fine AND a usb mouse in subway usb controler that works fine too. more on this i just test the usb mouse with a usb/ps2 adapter and plug it to cocolino and works fine too.
you don't need the cocolino.driver with simple mouses the driver is need it only to use the extra 4th and 5th buttons that some mouses have.

I use a Cocolino adapter, with an optical Logitech wheel mouse. It works flawlessly. I never noticed any slow down, but just ran SysSpeed, and I see what you mean; it does indeed steal some cpu time. This is on my A1200 for what that's worth.
I doubt I'll let this bother me.
