I am a newbie so here it goes.I have been away from the amiga scene for nearley 11 years.My question is i would like to build an amiga one system and i was wondering where i would get all the parts and will the amiga one board fit in my pc tower also how much would it all cost.

The AmigaOne is currently out of production and it is unlikely to go back into production.

The Amiga OS4.0 is still in developer prerelease although it would probably have gone gold by now if the AmigaOnes had been available! :getmad:
There are some planned boards that are in various stages of being ready to ship - some imminent by most accounts!

The Amy is really a replacement of the AmigaOne. The Powervixxen is a neat system which will run inside an A1200 Amiga or work standalone. The Shark is also an AmigaOne contender and great for people with existing Elbox gear.
All the above will run the Amiga OS4.0 which is the official Amiga Operating System and was developed from the OS2/3 sources by Hyperion. (http://os4.hyperion-entertainment.biz/)

You can buy the Genesi Pegasos (http://www.pegasosppc.com/pegasos.php) mainboard or the Genesi Open Workstation. (http://www.pegasosppc.com/odw.php) These machines are shipping right now and will let you run Morphos. (http://www.morphzone.org/modules/news/) This is an Amiga OS3.X compatable operating system. It's been around longer than OS4 and has it's roots in the PhaseV product line.
You may or may not know that the 'Amiga community' split into two camps 4-5 years ago. If you buy an OS4 system you will be a fully paid up member of the 'Red' camp. If you buy a Morphos system you will be a member of the 'Blue' camp.
Each platform is equally valid - don't take one opinion too seriously - check it out for yourself.
Of course, apart from an interest in the Amiga, these 'wars' were at times very nasty, genuinely enthralling or totally hilarious! Lots of developers work on both OS4 and Morphos and most people in either camp can have a friendly and civilised sparring session!
Of course you can always buy an A1200 cheap on Ebay!

Well, I guess you can call me a "red camp" person as I want to run AmigaOS and not a clone OS. I mean no offense to those "blue camp" people but if I'm gonna run Amiga I want to run Amiga. :)
Of those listed above which do each of you like? And why? Each seems to have certain pros and cons. I have to say the ACK solution is very intriguing. It would let more people have access to OS4 without having to invest a lot in new hardware.
A question I have about each of this is how compatible will the new hardware/software be with old Amiga software. I know there would be some obvious programs, i.e. certain games, that would not work but what about software written for the 68xxx in general?

All 100% system friendly and retargatable software is supposed to run on both OS4 and MorphOS. Both offers JIT 68K emulation.

OS4 has a built in 680x0 emulator which will run some "Classic" software. But anything that relies on the custom chips won't run. Forunately UAE has been ported to OS4 so you can emulate an A1200 for playing games.

Well I will definitely get a Powervixxen (hopefully bundled with a miniPCI graphics card) for my A1200. I am hoping that the PV is also so successful that the A3000/4000 version is made.
I am also very interested in the Genesi EFIKA. (http://www.pegasosppc.com/efika.php)This is like the Powervixxen for Morphos. Nice!b :-)

You will have to buy the AmigaONE second hand, since all the few boards was sold out and it is not very likely that we will see new ones.
There are other boards that are said to be in developement which will support OS4, but no ETA...
