I own an A1200 now. And i want to build a CD-Rom in it to easy transport data and store data/Games on CD. To let the CD-rom work i need IDEfix. But how do i transport that one from a PC or Mac to the A1200.
Someone said us a CF card. So buyed me an cardreader from sweex and a CF card from 256 (smallest they had). So at the PrepCar program i see the Card (SanDisk SDP Version 4.1 5/3 0.6). But i can't run "Prepare as DISK". That it sais: "Unable to prepair card: Error while writing changes". On my Mac the card runs fine. Is the card to big? Or did i do something wrong?
Oh i'm useing 3.0
Gr Roman.

For the CF card, you must not use PrepCard !
you must take on Aminet.net :
MSD95
CompactFlash device
and put them at the good place, then reboot and it will be automounted :-)
-
Hmmmm than i have the same problem. How do i transver the CompactFlash device from the PC/Mac to the A1200....
A devils circle
-
Do you have CrossDOS on you Workbench Disks ?
This would help to transfer Files.
-
Get a USB compact flash reader for your Mac. Plug in the card and format it as a DOS disk. Then use a PCMCIA card reader for the A1200. Install CFD (http://www.aminet.net/package.php?package=disk/misc/cfd.lha) and Fat95 (http://www.aminet.net/package.php?package=disk/misc/fat95.lha) on the Amiga, and it will automatically mount the compact flash card when you insert it.

@Ohforf: Where do i can find those?
@motorollin: The problem is how i transfer the data (also CFD and Fat95 or IDEfix) to the A1200 for the first time.
-
Mount PC0 on your Amiga. Format a floppy disk as a DOS disk. Copy Fat95 and CFD on to the DOS disk. Put it in your Amiga and you will be able to see the files by copying them from PC0.

A nice CrossDOS tutorial can be found here (http://www.amigau.com/natamiga/t-crossdos.shtml)
-
Okee. That works. But when i insert the disk in the A1200 and open the MSDOS5.0 disk that i see that it used 215K but i don't see any files... Whats that?
Works. First extract :D G'uh
But what do i have to do whit those files? Where to put them?
-
The files don't have icons. Change the view to Show All Files and you will see them. Use LHA to extract them.

Lol... evey post i learn :D
Tnx.
But... is LHA default installed at 3.0? Otherwise can i find it at Aminet?
-
you can find almost everything on Aminet
Archivers on Aminet (http://ftp.uni-paderborn.de/aminet/dirs/util_arc.html)
Note : some LHA programs are packed.. with LHA
I can extract them on windows with good old WinRAR
another Website with Archivers : http://www.amiga-stuff.com/archivers-download.html (http://www.amiga-stuff.com/archivers-download.html)
-
The problem is when i extract tham whit winrar or Tuxzip than it makes windows names like lalal~1
-
Oh, I just must point out this: STAY AWAY FROM LHA22! That very version is beyond broken. Get hold of an older version instead!
I don't know fed up I became when I realised that 20+ of the large archives I had made with that very version were broken. And, no, it isn't just me that have experienced this... my two IRL Amiga-pals reported the very same problem.
-
I found a Self Extracting Version 2.1 here (http://ftp://de.aminet.net/pub/aminet/util/arc/LhA.run)

Tnx.
It's one the A1200 now. And i run it. Also extract the 2 files... LOL and what now? I have 2 folders/Drawers (fat95 and cfd) but when i want to rtfm it sais Unable to open 'sys:Tools/EditPad'.
And i do not know what to do whit all those files....
/Me is Amiga N00B :-D

Click on the Readme and open Information for the icon. Change the default tool from EditPad to More or Multiview. Then save and double click the icon, and it should display.

Hmmmm don't have multiview....

Here you go - from the CFD readme:
Installation
============
Copy cfd/devs/compactflash.device to DEVS:
Have fat95 installed on your system.
Mount the drive by double-clicking cfd/devs/CF0.
If you run OS 3.5+:
Copy cfd/def_CF0.info to both sys:prefs/env-archive/sys and env:sys.
For Fat95 you just copy Fat95/l/Fat95 to L: on your SYS drive.

Hi... It's me again.
Now i want to install WHDload. So i downloaded it and put it on my CF card. I unpacked it. so far so good. Now i have a purple/blue drawer whit an Install icon in it. But when i'm opening it it sais "unable to open yout tool 'Installer'.
-
Use this:
http://main.aminet.net/util/misc/Installer-43_3.lha
Extract it and find the file called "installer" put it in your "c" directory.
-
Tnx. It worked.
But.... how do i make images from my disks now? I Also downloaden some games at Aminet but the don't work. How does WHDLoad work?
