Title: Pros and Cons ???
Post by: red_orion on February 05, 2006, 10:07:53 PM
Ok not trying to start a Holy war here but,,, Given the fact that it's taken so long for OS 4 to be developed, and now the shortage of hardware. Would it have been more reasonable to base OS 4 on the linux kernel a few years back?  After all that's what Apple did with OS X (based on FreeBSD) right? Would like to hear all reasonable comments for or against this option.
And by the way I do love the Amiga still have my A500, and if I could afford one of the new ones I'd jump on it quick when thay are available.

all these stuff have been discused a million of times in the past, the new cpu, the new kernel, bla bla bla...
we missed the train once again with the a1/os4 combination but it's all history right now. if i remember well back in 2002 it would be ready the os5 64bit or something like that. in the start of 2006 we are at os4 v0. the pc world runs at 64 bit and the cpus are ready to jump to the 4 core stage...
