Title: SCSI on my Amigas
Post by: ID4 on February 04, 2006, 11:40:50 AM
Hi! I have two Amigas with SCSI Controllers, But I don´t use It because I don´t have the cables .

So can you help me?

I have in my A1200T the Blizzard SCSI Kit IV with his original SCSI Cable (I think it is a DB25)

I have in my A1200D the Blizzard PPC 603+ 240/060 50 With his original SCSI cable, But I don´t know what type of conector his (I Think that it have 50 pins and is more little)

I never used SCSI, What type of SCSI conector I have?

Thank you!!

Just go to any old Macintosh reseller and get a SCSI 1 DB25 female to 50 pin female external cable (big connector) for the MarkIV and the smaller micro SCSI 2 50 pin jobbie for the BlizzardPPC.  These should be pretty plentiful.  Make sure to grab some external scsi terminators for each format while you're there.

I haven't used those expansion cards, but most likely you just have standard external SCSI cables.  You can just do a search regarding that.  The 50 pin connector (assuming it's not a ribbon cable) is probably an HD50 or high density 50 pin.  Another common type is a centronics connector.  The 50 pin types have redundant connectors, as compared to the DB25 types.  This should hold true at least for SCSI2.  Not sure about the newer standards.

edit- sorry, I'm a bit confused from your post: you said you don't have the cables, but then said you have the original cables?  Were you describing the connectors on the cards?

I have the original cables, the problem is that the SCSI hardrive and teh SCSI CDRW taht I have don´t match that connector, So I need "adaptors" or "other cables". So I want to know that is the exact models of the connector of my SCSI Cards.

Thanks you!

Dont know about spain... When i was in canada there were a lot of people who hoarded all kinds of hardware in their house. All kinds of stuff from apple to sun to sgi etc. These guys would sell hardware piece by piece, like computer recyclers. In the US, iver never seen this, i was in ottawa. If you live in a mojor city over in your area, there have got to be people doing this. This is your best chance of getting scsi stuff cheap, other wise buy online, but scsi connectors and cables are almost always mad expensive.

Are your SCSI devices internal types (ie, not mounted in an external chasis)?  If so, they probably have 50 pin ribbon connectors, right (normally 0.1", 25x2rows)?  What connections do your SCSI cards have on board?  Am I right in thinking the Blizzard603e+ has a 50 pin 25x2 0.1" connector available?  I think you may be able to just attach a standard SCSI ribbon cable to that connector.  You can buy various types of SCSI ribbon cables, depending on how many devices you want to attach.  They're generally not too expensive, and you can actually make your own.  External cables are usually more expensive, as they feature nicely arranged shielding coverage, and are normally very robust.  If you can identify the connectors available on your cards, you can work from there.
