Title: Photogenics 1.0
Post by: jimmy_n on January 28, 2006, 02:02:10 PM
I've been using Photogenics 1.0 on my A1200, but cannot get the HAM8 preview mode to work.  In fact, the program won't let me select HAM8 preview, it appears greyed out in the menu.  Also more recently the 256 colour mode has also started to appear greyed out, so I'm limited to greyscale preview only :(  I'm only using PAL:Hi Res and have plenty of chip ram left (WB in 8 colours).  Does anyone have an idea to why it won't let me use HAM8 in this ancient (but good) program?

Hi,

Have you tried changing the settings in the "SETTINGS>>screen mode"  menu item, as well as the "SETTINGS>>preview mode" menu item?

According to the manual you should still be able to preview HAM-8 on aga.  You could also try enabling the SETTINGS>>close workbench option to free memory, although this may cause crashes when trying to re-open workbench according to the manual.

Hope this helps.

You don`t say if you have any fastram installed. pictures/graphics can use a vast amount of ram, depending on pixel size and colour depth, Especially if chip ram is all you have. Invest in some fastram/accelerator or use UAE if you have a pc.

back in 1995 with my first ram expansion and 2mb fast ram (!) i remember that the use of photogenics was ok in all available screenmodes and colors.

I've got 32Mb fast ram in the A1200 so I don't reckon it's that.  I've tried it in different screenmodes and it still doesn't make any difference.  Using the 'close wb' option doesn't help either :(
