Title: CD Rom question
Post by: Olecranon on January 23, 2006, 10:43:00 PM
Just curious what I need to connect a CD ROM to my Amiga 2000 w/GVP SCSI Card.  Can I do this on a KS/2.04 machine or do I need to upgrade to the 3.X KS/WB.

-Thanks

i don't know about kickstart but for sure you need a scsi cd-rom and a cd file system, search on aminet, for example:

AsimCDFS 1.1 now supports the following SCSI controllers and
CDROM drives.
GVP Impact SeriesII (2000/500):          gvpscsi.device      (4.4 Roms)
*GVP 68030 Combo (with built-in SCSI):   gvpscsi.device      (4.4 Roms)

Olecranon:

That will work just fine. You could for example use the BabelCDROMfs CD-ROM filesystem found on this (http://babel.org/amiga/) page. Other than that you just need a properly setup scsi-CD connected you your GVP card. If you are uncertain about termination, id, and such scsi-stuff, take a look on this (http://wonkity.com/~wblock/SCSI/SCSIExamples.html) page.
