Title: Rumours: Haiku (Open Source BeOS) on PowerPC
Post by: asian1 on January 20, 2006, 11:17:54 AM
From Moobunny:

Axel Dorfler (developer of Haiku) said that Haiku will run on PowerPC machines (Pegasos).

Is this true or just a hoax/scam?

If Haiku can run on PowerPC machines, is it possible to port it to AmigaOne, uA1, Amy05 or PowerVixxen LT?

Allmost everything is possible *on theory*.. In practical level,  Pegasos has multiple adwantages over those you mentioned..

1) Pegasos 2 hardweare is well tested and available hardware.
2) Genesi/Freesale has active developer seeding program..
3) Pegasos has OpenFirmware.. this lessens port work cause it's allmost identical to PPC macs..

He was given one especially for the purpose of porting it.

Look at the 4th and 5th pictures down here (http://www.blachford.info/computer/begeistert010/pics2.html) :-)

Shouldn't be much of a problem.
