Back in the day i had a blast playing switchbox, an overview of the game is here: http://www.atarimagazines.com/compute/issue70/061_1_Switchbox.php
I would like to port it to win32/linux/aros. I'm planning to use OpenGL so the flippers and the balls and everything will be in 3d and look nice, i will keep the concept the same though.
Do you think i would be stepping any anybodys toes if i just went ahead and wrote it, and released it as freeware? I have no commercial motivation for this, i just think it will be fun coding it, and i think people would enjoy it.
I would like to at least get the authors blessing before i do it. I will write it anyway regardless, but it would be a shame not to be able to share it.
thoughts? oppinions?

Given the age of the game (nearly 20 years!) and the fact that it was originally a type-in listing, I don't think you'll have any problem.
Many people have made PC-based freeware game remakes of commercial C64/Spectrum titles and they seem to be OK. Most of the companies of that era have disappeared anyway...
Just my opinion!
