Post by: whabang on January 13, 2006, 06:41:48 PM
I'm responsible for the kids tonight, so I got myself a bag of potato chips, and a couple of DVDs.

I went out last night for the first time here, and it seems to me that Trondheim nightlife is next to non-existant. The town seemed deserted. Nevertheless it was rather koselig =), I just don't dare take a peek in my wallet.

I went out last night when I shouldn't have - woke up feeling like pigshit, and spent far too much money also. And to make matters worse, I decided it would be a good idea to cook mushroom and emmental omelettes for all my friends last night - needless to say the kitchen looks like its been hit by a bomb.

Odin, I didn't know you were in Trondheim - are you visiting your brother or something, or have you moved there?

@Cyberus
Grammars mistakis. I only have one child (that I know of)...

@Odin
Going out in Norway is a killer for your economy. You'd better go across the border instead! :-D
(not that the night life is better)

Perhaps all those Friday nights have created some you have no know of :p.

I'm in Trondheim for one semester at the uni here, exchange thingy. And going out certainly kills the wallet. 6 EUR a pint seems to be the going rate here :\.

Ah, I see. But was I right in thinking that your brother (?) lives in Norway, or is it just my imagination?

6 EURO a pint!!! I didn't think they even had EUROs in Norway ;-). Seriously though, I thought Britain was expensive for beer (about 3 - 4 EURO where I am)

6 Euros a pint!!!!????  Crikey, if the treasury taxed our beer at that rate, we'd be able to afford our own space programme.

Actually, once the government are done taxing the motorist (now officially public enemy/cash cow no 1, after years spent taxing smokers until most of us quit) then I'm quite sure tipplers will be next in line for some bad PR and corresponding tax hikes.

Ever thought of homebrew?  You can get all the ingredients you need quite easily to brew your own beer and the results can be quite something.

However, don't go to the same lengths this lady went to in order to brew her own beer... (warning - discretion advised).

The Gov wouldn't dare over tax drinkers!

Not while we have people like Bonnie Charlie Kennedy and Ken Clarke as MPs.  It's thanks to them that so many small Scottish distelleries remain in business (and fine work they do too).

However, with the current binge-drinking scares going on, it's a matter of time before the government use the opportunity to increase taxes.  Of course, they'll justify it as being "socially aware", but we all know the extra millions will go to buying a new "Blair Force One".

As for the home made lady beer, you've got to be absolutely desperate for a pint before you'd consider reaching for the Yoni Ale.  Jeez, I hope it isn't poured with a large head.

@cyberus:
You're quite right, he lives near Oslo =). I'm sort of contemplating moving to .no too when I finally finish some sort of education.

@PMC:
:lol: That's brilliant! The gods know how one thinks of that. And actually I have thought about homebrewing, but haven't turned it into something tangible yet =).

What about 'Sock Ale' ?
 Ingredients:
 1 'ripe' sock.
 2 lbs sugar
 5 gallons of water.
 Add malt and penicillin according to taste.
