Post by: bilko9070 on January 11, 2006, 07:39:54 PM
Anyone here use E-Uae?

I have it installed on my Suse 10 setup and the gui comes up but when ever i start the emulation it just exits the program....

Im new to linux so im still figuring out problem solving...

Anyone else have success with this program?

Yup, I'm having the same problem.

I'm trying to use E-UAE on an iMac G5, getting nowhere fast. I am sure it is my fault, as I don't understand the UNIX underpinnings of the app.

You need to have a Kickstart ROM image to use the emulator.  If you don't have one you can buy a complete collection of them on CD-ROM (with two bonus DVDs of the history of Amiga) from the Amiga Forever web page (http://amigaforever.com/).  Just look for the AmigaForever 2005 package.

Sorry, I should have said.

I own an Amiga 500, and an Amiga 1200 with blizzard 040 board/HD. I have my roms kick13 and kick31. I have a full compliment of workbench disks (3.11) and have a very good knowledge of both the Amiga itself and Winuae.

I also own quite a bit of Amiga software, for which I have most of the ADF's that I need.

I am just new to the Mac and in particular Mac ports of Unix software that rely on support files not provided with the archive.

I think I am just missing a few support files, and will read through the docs, slowly this time. ;)

I am a registered owner of AmigaForever (early version) but am quite interested in the new version you mention, especially the DVDs of Amigas history.

I have tried it with all the different roms etc, but the same results every time...

I am familar with the emulator setup and am good with WinUAE...

Have you installed SDL? E-UAE on the Mac requires the SDL libraries installed.

http://www.libsdl.org/download-1.2.php

Don't forget Hi-Toro. Very nice GUI for E-UAE....

I'm running the AmigaOS4 version of E-UAE.

Sorry, haven't tried Linux versions or Mac versions.

Workbench for Workgroups?  :-P

What actually happens when you launch it? Is an error returned? You mention you have roms called kick13 and kick31. I think unless you specify otherwise, E-UAE looks for a file called kick.rom. If your ROM is called something else then it won't find it, and the emulator won't run.
