Right as afew of you's know I'm having trouble running heretic2 on my amiga1200. everytime I run the game I get a
Bad Blocklights Size
error message and the game quits, so this is on my BPPC 060/240. So I stripped my amiga and put in my 160 bppc card and ran heretic2 and it ran without a problem, they both have the same 060 chip but the 160 isnt scsi but the 240 is, so does anyone have an idea what is wrong with this card if indeed there is a problem with it as it runs payback, shogo and freespace fine but not heretic2 or quake ppc.
Thanks

Lack of power?
Have you tried different memory simms?
I've had trouble in the past with different BPPC cards behaving differently with the same memory modules, all of this when working in PPC mode. In particular, the 240Mhz models would be very picky about the standard 128MB HP modules out there that everyone uses.
Additionally, plugging a floppy power connector directly into A1200 motherboard floppy pins may provide more stability.

I hope not im using a 400watt PSU :-D
Have you tried different memory simms?
No I have'nt tryed any other simms, but would a simm cause an game not to work? Cause as I said the card runs payback, freespace and shogo fine without any problems and it runs most apps that require the PPC fine it just seems to be games that use the quake engine i have problems with on the 240 card:crazy:

Yea I already have that done :-)

Try booting your Bppc with the "s" key pressed, this way you will disable your scsi device, and save more power for the ppc cpu.
Maybe this well help.

"Bad Blocklights Size" doesn't look like a hardware problem to me.

Just trying to help my friends.

have you checked the bios settings of the card?

Well downloaded the heretic2 demo from aminet unpacked and ran on the bppc240= bad blocklights size change bppc card to bppc160= run's perfect (well except from the slow downs :madashell: ) so i'm just putting 1+1 together and maybe im coming up with 3 but its a starnge problem :-)

Ok stranger it is, I dont know if this will help anyone or give them an idea to what might be causing this, I started playing around the the effect details in heretic2 and if I put the gfx to lowest settings or the next one above lowest then heretic2 will run, but then if i try to move the gfx details above half way then i get that stupid error message.
So I'm gonna remove the voodoo3 2000 and add a bvision in its place and try again

is it towered? This has always been the main problem for me with BlizzPPC&BVision. The trapdoor/Accelerator port wobbles for fun in a tower and moves the contacts arround quite a bit. I have just retowered mine and at first was so unstable I thought it was knackered (not used in 2 years) so took out the PPC & BVision ultra reliable. So then I took a pin and move every contact on the PPC forward. I also did this on the Mini PCI connector for the BVision. Now super reliable. It may solve your problems, it may not but some bad contacts dont always manifest untill certain funtions are in use.
