Hi all,
someone knows a solution for the Diavolo problem using XPK ??
regards.
-
whats the issue?
im using Diavolo 2000, my compression is set to No compression when using a tape backup device like AIT or DLT, as the device will deal with compression automatically.
Other options are available are:
For 7mhz - Fast.50
For 14mhz - Fast.100
For 25mhx - Nuke.100
Data encryption algorithm - Feal.8
Hope this helps

using XPK to compress a backup to a harddisk-File, later the backup are unusable, a error says something like "This backup cant be restored with this version of diavolo" :-(

m.korndoerfer AT nathan.gun.de
Speak to the author, should be able to help.
I put AT where @ should be stop spamming.

which xpk library do you use ? i had the same problem here with a corrupt lib.
i use xpkshrink.100 to get real good (but slow) compression.

What CPU do you have? Maybe that's a factor?
-
it´s a 060/50. backups run over night. unpacking is much faster, so you can use it this way ;-)
i just tried to find the corrupt lib, but i thnk i deleted it.
xpknuke, xpkshrink (xpkfeal for encryption) run very stable w/o problems.

O.K. I was just wondering becuase my backup size is starting to approach the uncompressed limit of my tape drive. I'm going to have to start using compression soon. Thanks!

FAST.lib, but I noticed this fail compressing large backups >~1Gb, (or may with entire partitions?) doing the same with dirs of ~250Mb I have not the problem.
Also I try DUKE.lib (I want speed), with the same result. ..I will continue now testing others libs.
mmm... may not help... but can you send me your config file, plz ?
btw, using BZP2.lib, instead of SHRI.lib, the compress are more bigest, and sometimes (with the lib optimized for 68060) more faster.
Thx!
Kind regards.
