Ok. Today is not going well for me!..
Is there a way to fix checksum errors without formatting the whole hard disk?
I have just spent the last few weeks getting it the way i want it and now i have got a `disk needs validating` message when i try to move files and the disk usage has shot upto 100% as well. :madashell:

The best would be to copy all files to another partition, format this one and copy all files back. And while you are at it, change the file system to SFS or PFS3.
However, if the HDD is smaller than 4GB, DiskSalv will be able to repair the checksum error.

Thanks, I shall do that and make sure i have disksalv on standby incase of future occurences!
Is it really worth changing the filesystem and is it easy to do?

It's just one step more than listed above: copy all files to another partition, change the file system of this partition, format this partition and copy all files back. Done.

Invest some money in a backup program like Diavalo Backup..
Alot of Amiga owners spend alot of money in getting their amiga right, but a backup is just as important.

download from http://home.wtal.de/js/ the latest version of sfs (1.247) and use the HDToolbox program to install the sfs
in the disk at first and then setup the partition to use it. then format it. BEFORE you do all this you MUST backup all of your files. and YES it's deserve the waste of time and much more than this.
