First of all, here's my current setup:
- Amiga 4000 Desktop
- CyberStorm MK III 060/50 w/64megs of ram on board
- 2 megs chip
- CyberVision 64/3D + scandoubler
- Delfina Lite
- Sunrize AD1012
- XSurf
Running OxyRon Patcher, CyberGraphx v3, OS 3.9, AsimCDFS.
I'm currently using version 4.14 of delfina.library.
Let's see. I use "delfinit" instead of "delfmem", and it seems to work great. DelfPrefs, DelfFx and DelfLoad programs all seem to be running fine and I don't get any "delfina has crashed" requestors popping up.
When I run "delfmpeg", I get a "delfina.library" has crashed "suspend/reboot" requesters but everything plays no problem. The only difference from when the requester doesn't pop up is that when it pops up and "suspend" is chosen, it will exit the program once the MP3 stopped playing, otherwise it pops up another requester. If I try and play an MP3 from the CD drive, I get the suspend/reboot notification and the program actually freezes.
I can't seem to get AHI working reliably at all.
After a coold boot. I try the MP3 playing software bundled with OS3.9 and it sounds horrible. I tried tweaking my AHI settings but to no avail. (It sounds better when I configure it to use the paula.device directly.)
When I try Simon the Sorcerer II, I have to supply my own settings. If I choose the Delfina, it pretty much freezes.
I'm open to suggestions.
Oh, on top of all of this, I notice some minor graphical glitces as well.
a) I sometimes see splotches on worbench.
b) MUI sometimes doesn't draw things correctly.
I also can't run certain programs until after the workbench started up completly. (IE: AmiDOCK, rawbinfo all seem to crash the system if they run during the WBStartup phase. Once Workbench is up and running, then I can load them up.)
-
That requestor is famous. It is known as the "fake rquestor". Just ignore it, meaning hide it behind another window. Everything should work fine, pretty much.
-
I'm familliar with the "fake requestor".
But the problem is when I use DelfMPEG to play an MP3 off of a CD, it actually freezes the program. If I copy the same MP3 to my harddrive, it works.
Is there some incompatibility with AsimCDFS?
Anyone know how reliable the "CDMount" built in to the CyberStorm MK III is?
I'm still unsure what's wrong with AHI though.
I was curious to try the "Tocatta Emulation" to see if I can get around my AHI problems by installing the Tocatta AHI Driver. That just produced silence. :-?
Is there Tocatta only sound software that I can use to test to see if the Tocatta Emulation is actually properly installed?

First of all use DelfTweak from Aminet to overclock your Delfina Lite to 60Mhz. I do it and it works great. (I cant make the script work from user-startup or wbstartup so i start it once every time i boot)
Your using an old version of delfina.library.
delfina.library 4.16
(4.16 ß 3 with PATCH#2 14-Oct-2001)
I have this and it works great. Delfload doesnt work with this library. But all crashes are gone. I will send you the archive once you tell me you email.
About AHI problem, I will also send you my AHI prefs and all my ahi files related to Delfina.
My versions are:
SYS:Prefs/AHI
AHI preferences 5.7 (07/07/02)
DEVS:ahi.device
ahi.device 5.31 (19/01/03)
DEVS:AHI/delfina.audio
delfina.audio 4.9

I'll try delftweak, thanks.
Let me know if you can't get my address from my profile. I could only find the library from the Petsoff website. Is there a mailing list or someplace where people discuss the DelfinaLite and where we can get newer versions of the software?
Thanks.
-
Couldn`t find your email so i`ve sent you private message. Tell me your email via private message.
I got the files directly from Michael Henke.
There are also some updated libs in this link.
http://www.petsoff.com/z/
But the files i`ll send you are not there.
-
Thanks for your help. I'll be trying this all out when I get home. I can confirm that these files are sitting in my e-mail account. :)

@ FaLLeNOnE
DelfinaMPEG usually locks the system after a
random amount of time. Does your version of the
lib correct that?
@ sdesros
Audio problems with Simon II are nothing to worry
about. It's a very buggy program, unfortunately.
-
Yes it corrects that problem.
Though I dont use Delfmpeg now.
I use Amplifier configured to work with delfinampeg.library 1.5 that can be found on Aminet. Tell me your e-mail via private message so i can send you the same archive.
About Simon2: Using latest update for Simon2 I can use Delfina via AHI to hear sound. Unfortunately theres no music.

Wah? I can't seem to find this on aminet. At least, not the mirror I've got.

Updates? hmm... gotta look for those too. :P
-
Actually, I meant that Amplifier locks the system
using the delfinampeg.device. But regardless,
the problem seems to be fixed in your version.
Cool.
On another note, I just read at CZ Amiga News that
Individual Computers just released a new version
of the library anyway.
*EDIT* - Oops. It's only for clockport versions
of the card. I gotta start actually reading
the details of driver updates :-)
-
Sorry :) I wanted to say delfinampeg.device
search for dmdev.lha
Tell me you email and ill send you the patched libs also.
-
To the best of my knowledge, the Amiga version
of Simon II doesn't actually have music :-(
Either that or I haven't managed to get it working
after a year or two. Maybe add more channels in the
AHI prefs? I never tried that...

Downloaded the file and using it now. Seems to work here and no locks. I still have the old lib backed up in case of a problem though.
Simon2 have no music right. Its very easy to add code to play music though.
-
No lockups? Hmmm... I'll give it another try.
-
I love questions about Delfina. Let more of them come.
Well, first.. there is new delfina.library out, there is updated DelfMPEG player and there is delfinampeg.device wich works with Amplifier, AmigaAMP and even Frogger.
I can e-mail them to you!
Support Amiga magazines like Amitopia. Come with questions, your problems.. we like to solve them for you.
Here is a grab!:

I hope that this helps... Take Care.

The new delfina library unfortunately still makes the system freeze while using delfinampeg.library
Better continue using the old patched library.
AmiDelf I use Delfina Lite and there are problems in this soundcard. Using the versions you use I have problems.
I use these:
DelfMPEG 0.9
delfinampeg.device 1.5 (03/11/02)
delfina.library 4.16
(4.16 ß 3 with PATCH#2 14-Oct-2001)
Using these no lockups or error requesters.
-
I have no problems.. none!
My DelfinaDSPlite is actually overclocked. Not thru software, but changed the crystal.
From 40MHz to 66MHz.
My setup is:
Amiga 4000 68060 50Mhz/PPC604e 233Mhz, Voodoo3 2000, DelfinaDSP, AriadneII, MultifaceIII, 66gb HD, 106mb RAM, 36x IDE CD-ROM
My software is:
AmigaOS v3.9 BB1 (NOT BB2!!!), Visual Prefs, Birdie and Magic Menu. I use Picasso96 for rtg and the latest AHI.
I've never seen my Amiga freeze. There was some problems with early beta delfina.library, but with the version I have now. No problems! And remember... if you use BoingBag 2, thats the reason for freezing and hangups.
I hope this helps... My system works 100%! I hope yours will to, because Amiga is a wonderfull computer when everything works,...
Regards,
AmiDelf

Well... Here's the results so far:
a) I used "FallenOne"'s version of the library. and I don't get the fake requester anymore... Also tried DelfTweak and delfinampeg.device. Seems to work fine!
b) I used the AHI Pref's that "FallenOne" gave me but I think there's a problem, I just can't seem to get any sound now. I'll probably need to reinstall AHI I think. I stopped trying to use SimonII as a test and jumped to Foundation Gold and Quake. Foundation was quiet, Quake came up with an error requestor saying the audio list was corrupted.
c) Where can I get the 3.9's boing bags? I don't have either.
Thanks again.
-
Just in case, I would also try to fit an extra fan somewhere in the computer. You've got a pretty packed A4000 and overheated hardware is known to cause funny errors, such as when graphics get trashed.
-
Yup, I've got a few fans in there.
My PSU is actually outside of the case (converted a PC PSU), and in the cavity is another fan blowing out. I've also put a fan on top of the accellerator.
-
Hell
Maybe someone was inrterested that there is a new delfina.library, version is similar to present one 4.16 but it's dated to 8.04.2003
If someone is intersted look at the:
