She's a beauty! I'll be away two weeks now!
:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

And is linux any fun? :-P
-
Don't diss the penguin!
-
Hmmmm.Firsts threads about receiving boards.
I hope i can start my thread sometime this or next week :-D
-
Actually I'm having a really frustrating problem right now!
Does anyone know where I can find info about the jumpersettings? I'm NOT going to take any risk now after waiting for two years. There's not much info on the mobo.
Help! :-o
-
There should be a ML at yahoo! for these kind of problems -
and a member-only ML too (think Ole-Egil is moderating that
one, or they could both be one and the same, don't know).
Also, there is the open AmigaONE ML on Yahoo! where info
such as this is answered sometimes (but more likely you'll
be referred to the more technical lists).
All in all, plenty of help to be had!
Congratulations on getting your board, by the way.
.

@ sTix
Good to hear! Enjoy and have fun! :-)
I see you are living in Sweden. Did you buy it from GGS Data?
I can't help thinking about Helgis75. This must be good news for him too! Finally, I must say! :-)
-
What's with the low posting rate? :-D

That's not the official list. I don't know who set up the Yahoo list, but for the official list you'll need to contact your dealer to make sure they've forwarded you email for inclusion, as it's invitation-only (to keep the noise down).
Some dealers are also setting up local-language lists for their customers. There's a1france@yahoogroupes.fr for French speakers, run jointly by Relec and Amont Informatique, Ole-Egil (OK he's not a dealer, but he's a useful guy to have around) has started a Nordic list, and others will follow, if they haven't already.

Yes! Even my 11-year-old daughter likes it.
Apart from the installation, which can be a little tricky sometimes, whatever the computer (though it's usually not too difficult to get a basic install running), it's quite pleasant to use, there's loads of freeware out there, and reams of documentation, especially O'Reilly.
And you can tweak it all you like.

Has Eyetech started sending them out yet or even got them from the 3rd party testers yet ? I hope their not coming by surface mail. Last time i sent a parcel to new zealand surface mail it took 56 days to get there.

Heh, thanks. I try my best.
sTix:
Drop me a message if you wanna get on the list. The a1-nordic one, that is. The official list is invitation only, and Alan must approve. I think we'll stop including more people on there, and have end-users on separate lists like a1france and a1-nordic.

Finally!

Ami603:
You gotten your Access yet? I think I'll end up buying one as well :-)
-
Wips!
She's on the air now but I could really use a cd-burner,
this floppy mess is really making me tired, should have
bought a complete linux-dist. But why pay for something
that's free? And now I have something to do while I'm
waiting for OS4.
The sun is shining :-D
-
@takemehomegrandma
Yep, bought it from GGS-Data. Great store!
Helgis75 should have his in a couple of days,
and I'm glad that he's finally rewarded for his
optimism! (we need more of that here!)
-

-
@Olegil:

-
Fake post to increase my counter :-D
Just one more level now :-D

At last!

How come people in Sweden get them before UK?
That's not fair seeing as Eyetech is in the UK.
:-D :-D :-D

@sTix

Yes! I want mine now damnit! NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW!
:-D
-
'not fair', hahahaha :-)
I think I heard something about the boards are being shipped directly from Asia or wherever to the various shops and not to Eyetech first to reduce shipping costs or something.
Sincerely,
-Kenneth Straarup.

VERY nice avatar...
Piece of mind is a fantastic album:)

Surely they should be here in sunny England by now.
:ranting:

@Ami603/olegil
What's that Access-thing you're talking about?
-
I'm so glad that most of you actually are thinking about me and that i will be very happy! Yes, i will! It shouldn't be too long now. I'm sure i will have mine by next week! I'm not worried! :-D Should be great fun!
I really like the MicroATX AmigOne-XE design, and the features Alan revealed look brilliant! It also should have GigaWire and Articia P instead, with DDR, PCIX and 4x AGP!!! Now THAT what it should be! And included with things like ATA133 RAID and GigaBit Ethernet, it is a brilliant upgrade! I hope that will happen, especially considering it being released during the end of the year! Should be really exciting!
Anyway, i'm DYING to get my board soon! WOW! :-)
-
@ Carls
Look here (http://www.amiga-hardware.com/access.html)
The contents of the bottom drive bay *is* the Access.
Very cool piece of kit :-P

:-D :-D :-D
Alan tried to get the boards to Sweden in time for AmiGBG 2003. However, they ended up in Cologne (in the colon?) so didn't come until 2-3 days after the event...
The rest of the boards was NOT going to reach any public showing, so was sent as regular shipment (not UPS or whatever it was he used for the shipment to Sweden). They should be in the UK about now, yes. And Helge's board should be in Norway by now. And Helge should be on our new mailing list by now. But he isn't. For some reason. I think he's avoiding me ;-)
-
No, Ole-Egil. I haven't been avoiding you. I simply couldn't get into that site you wanted me to.
By the way, i got a mail from Datakompaniet. They haven't yet got the boards and they will only get 4 of them this first run, and i'll still have to wait, but i'm the first on the waiting-list..I mailed Gunne and Datakompaniet and said Datakompaniet SHOULD have more boards and that i'm sick and tired of waiting longer..so hopefully Gunne should solve the problem by now..
-
I can't really understand why Datakompaniet only is going to have 4 boards during this first shipment. That's far too little. What's going on really? It's too stupid...I didn't pay 8500 NOK just to wait any longer for my A1G4XE! I have sent a mail to them. Actually i was supposed to get the boards by Datakompaniet. Now i wonder if i should ask Datakompaniet to transform my payment over to GGSData instead and ask Gunne to send the A1G4XE from them directly to me? I just don't know. I expect to get a mail from them during the day. I'll stay on the net to 21.30.
Sorry for feeling a little let down. I know i'll have my boards, if i only knew WHEN...
-
Look, Gunne has a LOT of orders. He didn't get enough boards in that UPS-shipment (it was sent by UPS, don't forget this) to cover all of them. When Alan get's the rest of the boards (I don't know when either) he'll get some more boards, and by then you'll have yours.
The thing is, you ordered from Datakompaniet, who ordered from Gunne, who ordered from Alan. Getting my drift here? I ordered from Alan and got mine 11 months back :-P
Ok, that was evil. But The Thing is, Datakompaniet shouldn't have been sitting on the fence for this long, because that forced them to order boards via another dealer.
The whole problem is that you're too eager, methinks. Slow down, you're giving yourself a heart attack :-D
-
Asking a person whom has been waiting almost a decade for a new Amiga-system to wait even longer, is easier said than done, but i know about the situation. I just don't really understand this..but i try hard to do..A long wait makes a person feel a bit ill...It's a nature thing..
I'll pray to God then..
-
All this kinda reminds me of delays (and delays and delays :-) ) shipping ZX Spectrums and QLs in the early 80s. Sir Clive Quoted a 28 day shipping period, which often got exceeded by months - that was mainly due to a world shortage of RAM chips, and supply being exceeded greatly by the actual Demand.
That was probably the cause of the QL not being that commercially succesful. nice machines though !
-
Also, the first batch of QLs shipped before the ROM was really ready, and they had to re-issue them, IIRC. There a whole load of info about it at old-computers.com (http://www.old-computers.com) (which is a top site, btw)

Untill OS4 is released, the AmigaOne has as much to do with an Amiga as my microwave. It is a linuxbox. Keep that in mind and everything will be ok.
-
No, you don't ignore him, but you ignored my PM.
If you aren't man enough to answer such a PM, you're
not worth my attention.
-
Datakompaniet just mailed me back and told me that i am the first on the waiting-list, so that means i'm number 5, while they only get 4 this round. Hopefully a batch will come soon, and i could then have mine about not too long..
-
@ Helgis75
Has Datakompaniet recieved their boards now and sent them to the first 4 customers?
Otherwize *everybody* is waiting, and the waitinglist should cover those 4 boards aswell, meaning you are the first one to get one from *this* shipment!
-
They should have received their 4 boards, because afaik Gunne shipped them on friday or something. Unlike Helge, Datakompaniet HAS signed up on the a1-nordic mailing-list, so I guess we could continue the discussion there if Helge just found out how to access ssl-encrypted websites :-P :-D
Sorry, I'm being evil. Helge, get your actu together and send me your email address. It's as simple as that...
-
@Blomberg
Whoa, and it's not an old april fools joke? :)
Anyone who knows where I can get one?
-
You can get one H E R E (http://www.soft3.net/pages/usato_3.php)
:-)

@M3x:
How much access systems do you have?
I know some people also interested.
:-D
-
Hey, I'm already getting one, don't forget that. I've even signed up with PayPal just for this... *sigh*
-
@ olegil
a board has been reserved only for you, be sure !!!
@ Ami603
I've still a few boards, I'd say 4-5 but without hard disk, obviously at a lower price.
I'm waiting for a new stock as well, but it could arrive at the end of April.
Ciao

Heh, I get this bad feeling whenever I hear a salesman use the words "only for you". I guess in this case it's a good context, though :-P
-
You could have done worse and had tried to own an A2200!

404 file not found. Que? ;-)
-
damn, did I just see an access 1200 unit??
so its not a myth?
-
Yes, it's not a myth :-)
It seems like I was the only one who used such board until now!
Ciao
Massimiliano Tretene, S o f t 3 (http://www.soft3.net)
-
Gahhh! I really, really want one, but I just bought an electric guitar, and my AmigaONE XE/G4 is due to arrive any minute so I can't afford it!
Damn it! Why must there be so much cool stuff in the world that I can't afford! ;-)
-
Just added an English page H E R E (http://www.soft3.net/pages/usato_3e.php) and lowered the price since there are no more hard disks available.
Ciao

Got a new mail from Gunne. According to what Gunne told me, there should be a new shipment of A1XE-boards from Eyetech within two weeks, so i will just have to be patient. :-) I'm number 5 on the list, so with the second shipment, i will be number 1, the first on the waiting-list! Great stuff! Now OS4 should be far off either! :-)
-
there should be a new shipment of A1XE-boards from Eyetech within two weeks
Sorry, couldn't stand :-)
Wishing you get the damn board real soon man. You "worked" hard for it.
-
He sure has hehe ;-)
I'm also form norway but on no list what so ever.. Just know some of the money in june will go to a A1 board, tower and stuff..
Been 5 years since my bloodpressure was sky high of frustration over no new amigas hehe ;-)
Well, happy easter or something :-D :-D :-D
Maybe OS4 will be with us when the Iraqi war is over :roflmao:
-
@ m3x
The Access boards are new one or used ?
Are they reliable or there are known problems ?
Thanks.
