Title: Apollo 1200/4
Post by: Eclipse on December 26, 2005, 03:09:27 PM
Hi,
My A1200 has an Apollo 1200/4 that has the FPU socket in it. What's the clock speed of the 68882 that you can fit. I heard it needs to be equal or faster than the 68020.
Thanks.

68882 is available from 25 to 50mhz and the 33mhz version is most common and is probably the best one to plug into that empty socket.  Like this one on eBay. (http://cgi.ebay.com/1x-FPU-Motorola-MC-68882-33-mhz-PLCC-NEW_W0QQitemZ8245325946QQcategoryZ98928QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

33 in most cases works good at 40 too :)))

Hi,
 Thanks for the replys.
Those listed on ebay are PLCC socket. Am I right in thinking that I need a PGA type FPU?
I'll post a pic up of the socket type if I find one.
