Title: Vic 20 & C64 Composite Cable to 1084s or RCA jack?
Post by: XDelusion on December 26, 2005, 04:28:57 AM
Anyone know where to get plans to build such an adaptor. I know you need a MIDI cable, but I don't know what pins are for what.

Thank you...

...it has a line for Audio In?!?!?

----------------

I've not used a Vic 20 for a while, how do I tell if it works if I have no cart or Disc drive? Should it boot up to anything, or should I be seeing garbage like I am?

Also does it make any sound on boot?

You should see something other than garbage. That is NOT a good sign.

I opened it, pushed down all the chips, cleaned it, let it sit on for a day. Beat it a tad bit...

...nothing, just garbage, like the random characters that are on the bottom sides of the keys.

Think I'll have to buy one off Ebay.

So which chip controls the sound anyhow? :)

Hello,

The random garbage is a RAM problem caused by a error in lower memory. ( at lease for the C64 is was the First 8K that had this symptom)
Open the case and touch the RAM chips if any are extremely hot then replace them.

It chould also be the Character ROM but more likelty the RAM.

Cheers

Shaf
