Hi mate
Forget it. Don't even think. This must be the most sought-after piece of HW in the Amiga world. And as you may know, the Amiga world is a small one. You'll have more luck hunting a 3000 (with built-in, tunable, switchable, rock solid SD amber chip) :-P.
(That they tossed it out of the A4000 is WAY beyond me. Must be on the top5 of my favorite C= messups)
I guess you're ready for an alternative (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=18582) solution. Behold, it looks like quite an elegant & cheap one.
BTW, is anyone here using a CV64/3D WITH it's SD module ? I'd like details

Thanks bud, Why are scan doublers so rare? I have the scan magic and it doesnt seem to be alot to its design. Im guessing that my problem is with the poorly designed little board that pops out the back of my a1200 tower. So surely someone could build these things? Anyway thanks for that topic I'll go in and pester them about it :-D
Merry christmas

They're not rare and you can buy them quite easily. I bought one from Eyetech a couple of months ago (www.eyetech.co.uk) and Software Hut are due to get another batch in soon (www.softhut.com).
Treat yourself to one for Xmas ;)

Oh yeah, you're right, they're not so hard to make, specially considering the uber-complexity of graphic chips nowadays. the only thing is that albeit they are people willing to sacrifice a significant number of small animals just to be able to buy one, those people are still a bunch of, say, 1000. And I'm feeling optimistic here ; Not worth even remembering what a SD is, and what it exactly does.
And yes, external SDs are basically pieces of junk. All details are on amidude thread, mentioned earlier.

well,
i dont know where you can buy am, at least there are two places where you could get one:
softhut tells that they will have some in stock soon:
http://www.softhut.com/cgi-bin/test/Web_store/web_store.cgi?page=catalog/hardware/accelerators/apollo_scandoublers.html
and here a1200 internal scan doublers is in theire shop, but i am not sure if they have it in stock:

Hey, I did'nt saw that. Easy to miss something on EyeTech's huh, website ;) Damn, are you sure about this production run ? 'Cause I love to be wrong when it comes to A-morosity :)

Thanks guys, I'll look into this.
Dont know if i should treat myself to it for xmas as I just treated myself to a nice BPPC 240/060 but then again, if i dont treat myself then who will ;-)
I'll keep an eye on that other thing aswell and see what happens

Pitty, I sold three scandoublers last month, brandnew and never used  Unfortunately they were not mine as I sold them in favor of the chairman of our AmigaClub.be

GRRRRRR! nevermind Effy, I can just pretent I'm ultra retro with a yellow screen amiga (play on green screen amstrad) :-) Ive got afew options here:
A) just use the yellow tint
b) buy(try) a new scan doubler
c) Buy one of those boxes
d) Try and find my TVCard to use with the mediator
aslong as that box will allow me to play whdload games on my SVGA monitor then I'll be happy, but thats in the other topic :-D
-
Most boxes are only good for A500 resolutions ...
-
Right i'm giving these boxes a miss, and I'm just gonna try a locate a scan doubler, but meanwhile I forgot about option 5) my old Amiga 10??s monitor (that long since i seen it  )
