Title: What PNG datatype do you use with your PPC Classic Miggy?
Post by: Xanxi on December 24, 2005, 12:12:35 PM
Hello.

I run OS3.1 on my A1200 with 040PPC Blizzard and of course is use as much PPC datatypes than i can.
At the beginning i was using WarpDTs which are pretty good, but i don't want to pay for datatypes so i replaced them with other PPC datatype freewares. Except for WarpPNG because i can't find another PNG datatype for WarpOS. Then i still have to see the shareware requester each time AWeb load some PNG.

I don't know if i should go back to some 68k PNG datatype or if another freeware for WarpOS exists.

What do you use yourself?

Thanks and merry christmas :-)

Fair enough I guess, but all shareware products are there for a reason and mostly because they are better than the freeware versions (not in all cases tho) but if you support the shareware software then you'll get that nice warm feeling of doing something for the Amiga and supporting the developers can lead to new software :-D but if your looking for datatypes then just search aminet

Well thats my 2 pennys :-)

Sure but i don't think datatypes should be shareware.
Do you have to pay to open a jpeg picture on any other OS?
There is already more than enough essential part of a modern OS that are shareware on Amiga. Running a good AmigaOS is as expensive as buying a Microsoft Windows XP Pro license.

And as a matter of fact, i have freeware ppc datatypes that are as good as shareware WarpDT - except for PNG.

But don't worry, i gladly contribute to the sharewares that i use when i appreciate them. The best of them all: WHDLOAD!!!
