Hm, I got that one, unfortunately mine's a bit more yellowed :-(

I love that look. It's even better than having painted my old VIC-20 (VC-20 actually - german type) black.
The taller original shape (compared to the C-64c) leaves more room for internal hardware applications.
I had some EEPROMs and extra memory in my VIC-20 which could be switched to appear as 6.5kb, or 16Mb enhanced version, even with RAM in the cartridge area, which allowed for loading cartridge images, and switching read access off afterwards.
It also had FORTH and an enhanced BASIC (ExBASIC?) in EEPROM.
Unfortunately I sold my ordinary C64 a long time ago, and stupidly :boohoo: trashed my two VIC 20's because they were taking up too much storage space and I was not using them.
Thank god for emulators... :-D

I had a white C64c and a brown breadbin C64, but have never seen one like that before!

I used to have one of those. In fact, it was my very first computer.
Unfortunately, I had to sell it in order to finance the purchase of an A500.
Didn't think it was particularly rare though.

i had a c64 and the keyboard died so i got a 64c and used that for quite a while but it died during a power storm but the keyboard was fine so i made myself a 64g. it lokked just like that but the case was more brown.

I still have my Commodore 128D in the basement.
I think it still works too.

Whooah! One hell of a VIC-20!! :lol:
which allowed for loading cartridge images, and switching read access off afterwards.
So that was the (in)famous Write Only Memory (WOM)?

I've got one of those cute Sharp lunchboxes (NEC V20 808x-equivalent, dual 5.25" floppies, no HD) if anyone in the US wants to give it a better home.
It'd make a nice terminal, but I'm running out of reasons to ever need a terminal.
-
@Floid
If you decide to trash it I'll take the V20 CPU. I've been wanting one to upgrade an old PCjr. (Maybe the floppies also if they are working, black, and half-height).

Hi
The C64G was pretty well made exclusively for the German market cus when they brought out the C64C the Music Maker keyboard wouldn`t fit over it, so they put the C64C complete with white keyboard inside the old C64 body. The unit is almost completely white. Quite sexy....
Thanks for visiting the site. The whole page is this link.

The whole site is the following.. and is about to be updated with loads more hardware and software, so do return.

Gads, I still use a C-128 with Jiffy DOS in the 128, one 1571 and one 1581, and a 2Mb 1750. I can't find educational software that good on any other platform for my grandchildren to use! (elementary school - grades 3 & 5)
Was the 64G a Euro version? Never saw one here in the States.

"So does the Commodore 64C and 128. Ever seen one of them?"
Of course I have sen a C=64 and 128. I grew up with them.
But They are NOT the same color as the Amiga. They are both offwhite.
Take a closer look at the link. It has the Khaki colored FKeys like the A600/A500.
Its slighly White/Latte in color. :-)
Looks nice! and as the owner o that site posted here, tha is definitely a different machine made for the German market, which explains why some of us never seen it.
@scuzzb494
it does not appear as if they simply just put a C=64c Keyboard in there..........otherwise the FKeys would be white too like the C=64c, but they are Kahki like the Aig FKeys. The original C=64 had Dark Brown FKeys, and the C=64c had Offwhite FKeys like the rest of the keyboard.
this appears to be a completely new unit.

I don't think so. (This is too beautiful a machine to be gutted or trashed, and the floppies are somewhat special gray pushbutton-ejection models.)
I do have access to some regular XT clones for gutting, but if you're in CA, you should be able to find 20 every day at the dump.
(Other good sources for V20s would be old laptops of many forms -- especially NEC-branded ones, obviously -- or Tandy 1000s, but if you find a 1000SX you'd be best served using that and junking/mini-ITXing the PCjr.)

As far as I know it is the C64 "Aldi", it was sold in late 80s or begining of the 90s on "aldi" discount shop with a package of games, not very rare but uncommon.
-
Now that is friggin strange...
I DREAMED about that C64 lol!!!!
Though I never laid my eyes on them, I dreamed of me running into one and buying it hehehehe....
Nice to know it wasnt a dream, but they really exist lol.
:)
-
I've never seen one myself... But that is one damn good lookin C64!
-
I only ever owned a C64C and thought my friends brown C64 was ugly at the time.. however, NOW I think those brown models are damn sexy. I almost want one, except that emulation is so good these days.. complete with emulation of "fast loader" cartidges, etc. :)
-
So does the C64G have a white case or the original C64 breadbox tab case?
@leirbag28
I know I was messin with ya brother! :P
