Title: Play a Sun.au sound file at startup?
Post by: artman on April 07, 2003, 02:58:51 AM
I've got a really cute .au sound file that I'd like to play at startup, trouble is I can't seem to do it.  Tried just placing the "Sound" app from Prefs in the WBStartup drawer, and it locks up my CGX card.  The file plays file when using the Sound app by itself.  Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance.  By the way, my Miggy is an A2000, '060 Blizz w/128meg ram, Cgx card, ECS Paula and Denise.

Why not convert the .au file to an Amiga IFF sound?

Something like Sound Converter (http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/~aminet/mus/edit/SoundConvert.readme) on Aminet should do the trick.

IFF sounds should be a bit more reliable, and you can get a program that plays them without needing a datatype, which can be helpful if you are playing a sample early in your startup before all your datatypes are available...
